I care. The more 1/2 ton diesels on the market the better. I just hope it doesn't turn into a torque war like the 3/4 ton market did. I'd much rather have better MPGs than 100 more foot-lbs.

I believe that all the manufacturers need to improve fuel mileage to attract buyers without sacrificing torque numbers. The whole aluminum body program, I believe, has not attracted new buyers as Ford projected. Those who are going to buy a Ford would still buy a Ford regardless of fuel mileage (brand loyalty). Their goal is to sway the buyer who buys for specific purposes and good fuel mileage.

Me too. The power of the ED is already pretty good. Now make it tougher and more reliable and upgrade the cooling so we can use all the power that is already there.

I don't doubt the 3L is coming but was guessing 2018. 2017 would be interesting. The 10 spd with 3L diesel should be da bomb. Hopefully they fix the soft aluminum pickup bed issue.

I'd much rather have a transmission that doesn't try to live in 3rd at lower speeds, then hurriedly attempt to downshift to 1st when called upon to get moving again.

We'll see how this one does. Interested to see the numbers and configuration options once released for sure. Well, that and how bad the dealers will try to gouge customers. I suspect the price will be MSRP+5k at the dealers once released.
