Any way to tell if my new 2016 Eco has the spec oil?

I dont have 3,000 miles yet on it, bought it in November. I checked and the build date was 12/2015. The dealer I bought this from new was the only one for many miles that had any left in stock, and quite honestly these guys seemed slimier than usual and I dont trust them at all. I do have the right oil as well as some AFE PRO GUARD oil filters (Amazon) as I plan on doing the oil myself. I am wondering if they would have changed the oil as i understand they should have. Comments?

It appears to be regular oil fill cap with no writing at all. Picture of an oil lamp on one part and oil fill on the other.

I bought a 2016 Friday evening. It was the owner's demo and had 4k miles. They gave me the paperwork where the oil was changed and it says 5W 40. There is also a white sticker on the oil fill cap that says 5W 40. My build date shows early 2016. They did not specific but I assume the oil was changed because of the updated specs with less than 4k miles.

Go to a different Ram dealer and have them check the VIN for updates. The FCA system will tell the dealer if the latest flash (in conjunction with the oil spec change) was completed. Personally, I would just change the oil yourself at your earliest opportunity so that the mystery is solved and you can sleep easy.

I bought my 2016 in June of 2016 and it has a Build Date of 12/15 as well and it did not have the update. I had my first oil change in Dec and I had to tell them to put Rotella 5W40. The updated a bunch of modules but did not put a sticker on my Oil filler cap. (I will ask them to next time though)

Yea I forgot to add that my paper work showed the update as well.

Good suggestion on taking it to a dealer - I need to visit them anyway. I was looking at the center front seat seat belt this past weekend. Could not get it to move, turns out it appears the buckle was hanging down when they bolted the seat down. That buckle is seriously wedged between the floor and the seat bracket.

Taking mine in tomorrow with 9400 miles on it. FCA is covering everything but the filter. So this once I'll pay the $60 for the filter. Then I think I'll just have my local mechanic take care of service after that

It's so frustrating going to a dealer for service I won't go after this one unless I have to

If the truck was bought after the spec was changed it has the new spec'ed oil in it. Any trucks sitting on the dealers lots where to have the oil changed BEFORE they where sold. As far as the seat belt that should have been caught at the factory at the final QC audit or the dealer during their paid prep and inspection audit. My apologies for this not being caught before the truck reached you!!!
