Man-O-man, that opens up all kinds of discussions on which vehicles contribute more to the American economy. I used to be like you (and still am in wanting to support American goods), but there are all kinds of arguments supporting both sides. Unfortunately its not so clear anymore about which brands support America the most.

A second vote for Tundra. The only reason for me to leave the reliability and resale of a Tundra is for a significant jump in MPG. I don't feel that any of the big 3 1500's match the Tundra for build quality. If I had to take something besides the Toyota, I'd probably gamble on a new F150 with the second gen ecoboost.

I am going to be facing this tough decision in the months to come when my lease is up on my 2015 Laramie EcoDiesel. We had a similar problem in November when our lease was up on our 2014 Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel, we were fortunate enough to locate a fully loaded leftover 2016 Grand Cherokee Overland EcoDiesel and we love it as much as we did our 2014. But this time, I don't think I am going to be as fortunate. I have been looking around and I have to say, I was pleased with the five F150's that I have leased over the past years with the exception of the fuel economy. But it looks like I am heading back in that direction unless Chrysler does something to release the new models. I still have 8 months to decide.

Toyota. My last 2 Tundras combined spent less time in the shop than this one Ecodiesel.

I would just move on over to a Hemi Ram 1500. Not too bad mileage when solo and will still tow ( and get the same mpg's ) like all my previous gasser V8's.

Nothing that checks off all the same boxes as the ED is currently on the market. I'd probably vouch for a Alumiduty or Cummings. 3/4 ton

If you pull and need a diesel or just enjoy owning a diesel....Cummins .... Its still basically a simple design, most folks on our site could still work on it .Its a commercial duty engine designed for longevity. 18-20 mpgs back roads,20-22 mpgs highway depending on conditions . They hold their value exceptionally well. Cast iron head, grid heater, fuel system, running gear, frame ,etc....the mechanical components are designed to last ,now the electrical system is anyone's guess.

Before purchasing any truck, check forums for blown engines ,Ford is the worst manufacturer for denying claims, regardless Gas or Diesel.

Second the Cummins..Nothing beats a diesel motor in a truck IMO. I sort of have buyers remorse thinking about how cheap fuel is now..which was my reasoning for buying the Ecodiesel. Not too thrilled about filling up every other day though..maybe I could fit an auxilary tank.

I am waiting to see what Ram comes out with in the 2018 new design. I could live happily with the PEntastar as is if it was offered in a high trim line CC 4wd. Don't really want or need a Hemi and sounds like the PEntastar will get some upgrades for next year. We'll see. I won't buy a Ford since they raised the bed side wall height a while ago and with no air ride no ability to lower it so much more difficult to reach over the side into the bed. With the Ram in the Exit/Entry position I can reach over the side of the box and touch the box floor. I am very happy with my Ecodiesel but not sure I want to keep it for 10 years and be responsible for all the emissions stuff over 100,000 miles and 4 years old. Less worried about a gasser for emissions longevity.
