More power than suspension! LOL Air bags next!

Well, I decided to haul my skidsteer with the ECODIESEL this weekend. Had plenty of power to pull it at any speed comfortably. in the pics, I adjusted it back on the trailer because initially it was 6 inches more forward and the rear suspension was close to bottoming out. I do not have the factory air suspension so I will add a set of air bags so I don't have this issue anymore. WAY more power, torque, and hauling capability than any other 1/2 ton I have ever owned! Any suggestions on air bags? Thanks

Ryan

P.S. threw in the pic of my visor lights for responding as a volunteer firefighter!

You can do the Airlift 1000 like I did for around $80. It works, but you need to have the air in the bags before the load is added.
I am considering these once I add a 4" lift. $400 09'-14' RAM 1500 ? Timber Grove Enterprises, LLC I like the idea of raising and lowering them with the load on the truck.
Another option is a bump stop replacement for about $200, but it does only that it stops on the axel and provides no lift.

I just removed the Air Lift bags and installed the Timbergrove bags. I could not stop the air fittings from leaking on the Air Lift bags even after replacing all the lines with air brake type tubing. The new bags come with air brake tubing and fittings and bolt on to the frame/axle in the same location as the factory air bags. I'll let you know how they work after the next camping trip.

This is last week at my place in Georgia. Towed this rig, sometimes with a 7 ft. harrow and brush hog on also. There is NO weight distribution for this trailer and my tractor is a Ford 2000, 36 hp. diesel.

Now, the answer, Timbren bumper stops. When I hook up, the truck drops about an inch to contact the Timbren's. Then, it literally stops going down. No sag, no sway and about 15 mpg when I tow my 24ft tractor trailer loaded up. Do not know the weight but I can load heavy over or in front of the axles with no issues. Find that tractor weight on the internet as my book is at my place in Georgia. Add a huge 24 ft. trailer, harrow, scooter plow and brush hog to come up with some weight idea.

Skid steer weighs in at 6000 lbs. Trailer is probably another 1500 lbs? It's a good sized load for a 1500, but it pulled it very well.

So does everyone think timbrens or air bags?

Air bags will keep the height normal. Timbrens will sag.
Air bags will absorb vibration from the road, but the timbrens will transfer some of the vibration from the road to the body of the truck.
Both air bags and timbrens will work, but they have different costs and results.

I also have the Timbrens and they work great , when loaded with 8500 lb trailer and 1000 lbs of hitch weight the back of the truck does go down a few inches but nothing crazy , the best part is they are maintenance free

I already have my Timbergrove bags in my garage for the past week. My air lift 1000 has held air and worked ok for what it is, but I look forward to the install of my Timbergrove bags. I got the larger bags from Timbergrove because I plan to install a 4" lift. The owner of Timbergrove said I could install the larger bags now before the lift and would give me a 1" lift in the rear keeping the bags at min pressure.

I have used timbrin's on every dodge I have owned starting with my 91 3/4,95 3/4 through 03 3500. The worked great. I have hauled 11 foot cabover campers and 5th wheels. When I pull my 24 foot cargo trailer I use the easy lift hitch from the camping trailer to transfer some of the weight to the front end of the towing rig. I haul my diesel tractor quite often and have had no problem with any truck i used , even the F150 I'm driving well waiting for my 2014 Outdoorsman to get here. This week I hope. I tried the air bags on the 95 but went to the timbrin's on it also. So the Timbrin's will be added ASAP.
My 1st 3 Ram's were all Cummin's. So I have been waiting to see how the ECO had done and looks like it will serve me needs well. By the way in a little over 1 1/2 yearsI have put nearly 37000 mile on the F150 with a little over 10000 of that towing.

Hey Cap.

I am towing @6500TT, using WDB, when loaded i go down exactly 2inches on the back. Altough I have no sway problems i wonder if these timbren bumper stop may be better than installing air bags

My question to you does these bumpers stop you saging at one inche down? I mean what is the cleareance between the ruber and the axle. Best

Does anyone have the Timbergrove's installed yet? I was wondering what they do to the ride quality of our trucks. I just bought a 23.5' Larson Admiral that should weight in at around 4800# all loaded ready for fishing. I'm sure the truck will handle this weight without any help, but the Timbergrove's sure won't hurt. As long as they don't affect the truck ride when not towing.
