    Dream truck:

    3.0 ED
    ~550 lb-ft torque
    ~300 hp
10.5k rated tow capacity per SAE J2807.
Cooling system to handle the above
    Heavy duty axles
    Air susp capacity inc accordingly
    Factory engine braking
    larger capacity fuel tank

Since we are dreaming, long bed and mega cab thrown in for good measure

Oh and since dreams know no limits, 6 speed row em myself tranny - your welcome Mal

I have pondered the same thing quite a bit. There is not much weight difference between our trucks and 3/4 tons, but what is different is payload/axle capacity. That 8,800 lb truck will have an additional 4,000 plus pounds of trailer weight transferred to it when it is hooked up to tow.

Sounds like you need the GDE options with the 3.0L in a 3/4 ton. You'd have all you want!

    Man that would be awesome!!

IF I'm being completely honest I wouldn't go back to the G56 6 speed now after this ZF 8 speed tranny. It does everything so well I just can't find fault with it.

Hey if green diesel could mod the programming to ignore a lack of auto transmission, I would be more than happy to snag a g238 from a 4.7 Dakota and toss it in my ecodiesel.

This is the transmission they are cramming behind the manual 6.4l hemi wrangler mods. If it's standing up to that I can't imagine why it wouldn't deal with out ecodiesel engines.

Originally I was debating finding a wrecked ecodiesel and working towards cramming one in my Dakota, but with my relative lack of diesel knwoledge in the electrical and operating sense combined with the failure reports, it seemed a better idea to just get the whole truck and have a 5 gear engine warranty.

I still have my fingers crossed that the diesel Jeep truck will be the manual transmission Dakota replacement I dream of at night. Especially if it's a manual with a club cab.

    Close.

4.0 L engine (250cu.in.) , without the air suspension. KISS.

Add one speaker in the center of the dash for talk shows and a switch to use two more either side if you want to be distracted by music.
