Any update on the when the Flash tool will be available? I imagine with the AEM Flash this would be a wind fall of sales for GDE....

We are sticking with the ecm exchange for now. It is easier to manage vs. the flash tool.

I understand that y’all gotta do what you gotta do but as a current HotTune customer (I have my original ECM too I would jump at the chance to purchase a unit that can store both the stock and hottune tunes and hotswap before hitting the dealer. I would absolutely buy it if it had the ability to do ECM and TCM.

If not I will not likely even update the Hottune after the original ECM gets the AEM unless there is a reason to. I love the Hottune as it stands now. Thanks for a great product

The recalls and dealer overwrite of the GDE trans tun is a becoming a problem with the flash tool. It will lock the tool and render it junk if dealer overwrites the tune file. You would be surprised at how many folks do not flash back to stock before a dealer visit. We are having to sell 2nd tools for trans tune customers because they locked the first unit. If we were in the business of making and selling these tools, I guess it would be a different story. We just want customers to enjoy having a quality tune in their trucks.

It is really not different than folks forgetting to swap ECM's is it? Will a dealer re flash not render this ECM unworkable as well? I am totally ignorant on these ECM swaps. If my other car goes to the dealer for a tire rotation, it gets flashed back to stock. I don't trust them and it only takes a few minutes.

No, the ECM will function just fine and will be full operational. The flash TOOL referenced above is used for the transmission tune and is plugged into the OBD II port under the steering wheel. If you have the transmission tune you're given a flash tool along with it. Before going to the dealer for any work - especially with the AEM update since FCA refreshes the trans tune - you MUST copy the stock tune from the flash tool back to the transmission. Once the dealership does the deed and you have your truck back you write the new FCA trans tune back to the flash tool, email that tune to GDE, they update their tune to function with the new FCA tune and email it back to you. Then you copy their tune to the flash tool, hook up to your truck and copy it over, and VOILA! You have an updated GDE trans tune.

Sounds more complicated than it is in practice.

The key points: The ECM overwrite does not render your ECM useless, and the stock trans tune MUST be copied back to the truck before taking it to the dealer for the AEM update.

What I meant was that there really isn't a whole lot of difference which way you tune the truck, OBD versus ECM replacement. If the dealer flashes the truck, the tune is toast either way if you didn't revert to stock before. I guess I didn't explain myself correctly, and didn't mean the ECM became useless

Ahh, I definitely understand not wanting to get into bricked flash tool support any more than you have currently. I’m happy with my tune and thats ok by me.
