I was really disappointed with the sound, especially the high end and especially after the extra money for an upgrade. I realize that everyone has different tastes in sound but come on. The Alpine system sounds muddy or muffled stock with so much mid sound to me it's annoying. Even with the mid turned all the way down I didn't like the sound. Reading other forums I've been led to believe that there are internal crossovers built into the 8.4 system? The front speakers seem to be for bass only, there are no "highs" coming from them so I decided to swap out the 3 1/2" dash speakers and 6X9 rear door speakers with JBL coax speakers and man what a difference. Now it sounds the way it should have from the beginning. It's not going to rattle or vibrate the windows and I don't need a stereo to do that but now it at least sounds good. One of the best improvements I've made so far.
Dos you sell the alpine system ?

installed the JBL 3 1/2" in the dash corners. What an awesome upgrade. Surprising the factories were so muffled compared to the crisp clean sound.

Hello Friends! I just did the JBL GX302 dash and JBL GX962 rear door conversion. What a complete difference! The highs and the mids came alive. I installed the rear doors first. The holes on the GX962s did not line up perfectly so I used a dremel (w/ a vacuum for shavings) and widened the holes on the speakers a little that needed it. If you only have a small budget....do only the rear doors. I drove around for a week with the new GX962s and I was totally satisfied. The dash speakers I bought at the same time so I installed them the next weekend. Real easy install especially if you use the adapters that Crutchfield sells. Well the center speaker was a little difficult. If you use a small 7mm box end wrench to loosen bolts then use a 7mm socket with your fingers to loosen the rest of the way, that worked for me. After the GX302 installs, the dash came alive with highs and mids. I had to tune the highs down on the EQ though (personal preference). I do have one GX302 for sale on eBay for $25 if anyone wants to do their center channel speaker. The listing is here...

Hey Guys , I have a question for all the ones who changed the rear door speakers .
I have the door taken apart , and speakers removed (( wow that is an incredibly small magnet on those speakers , ridiculous quality))
    .
    my question ....
the connector to the speaker has 2 grey wires , 1 with a "dark green" line
the other with a "light green" line , which one goes to the + and - on the speaker ??, or is that not important ..
