    Timing cover leak?

    Hey guys,

Was going to change oil, fuel filter, and install Gde tune. But, found that I've got a oil leak! I've researched the timing cover leak thread. But, by the pics I took can anyone possibly verify? Before I take it in tomorrow.

Thanks in advance for your knowledge!Timing cover leak?-img_20170507_101227513.jpgTiming cover leak?-img_20170507_101317114.jpgTiming cover leak?-img_20170507_101555119.jpg

Check your oil filter cap. Mine did the same thing and I thought I had a valve cover leak and it turned out the dealership over tighten the oil filter canister cap and cracked it causing oil to leak down the side of the motor.

Thanks for the input. I do my own oil changes just for that reason. But, I don't think that's it. I took the oil filter cap off 1st & didn't notice anything up there. The oil is on the passenger side. I'll get it into the dealer in the am.

Gotcha! Then I have no clue what could be causing the oil leak? I couldn't tell by your pictures which side of the motor it was leaking from. Hopefully it's nothing serious..... keep us updated.

Looks like a gasket is "veeping", as the Germans say.

I would spray a little S100 cleaner on that area and rise off. When clean, you should be able to see where it's coming from easily.

Thanks Capt. I'm taking it in on Wednesday. She's only got 15000 miles on her. I can't see any higher up than those pics. I'll let them use their $100 cleaner. Lol

Just got back from dealer. He verified it was coming from the lower left timing cover. They cleaned it all up and said they had to order parts. Taking it in on Tuesday, she'll have to stay overnight. "You know this is a really big job." Now, I'm starting to worry after seeing some of the replies here!

Jmags has it started to leak again? It has been a recurring problem for me.
