The good news is that I finished the AEM today and the truck drives noticeably different in terms of acceleration. Beforehand, the pedal wasn't very responsive. The pedal is now very responsive at low speeds. The bad news is that my nearest dealer is two hours away and on our way home, the check engine light came on "Service DEF, engine will shut down in 175 miles". Well, I called the dealer and they were already closed for the night, so I couldn't turnaround. I'm now home with "37 miles" left on the warning before the truck will not restart. Here's my question, can I drive the truck back to Albuquerque tomorrow (150 miles) as long as I don't shutoff the engine, or will the engine detune (go into limp mode) after the "37 miles" has lapsed?

I tried to erase the code, but it's a permanent stored code. P202E - Reductant injection, Valve Circuit Range/Performance Bank 1 Unit 1

That was the point that I had GDE tune out the DEF system. I believe you can drive to the dealer if you don't shut off. But if you can overnight the ECM to GDE, you'll have it back in a day. Or order a tuned , DEF deleted ECM, then send your's back for a core refund. Now is the time if you can swing it. If you go to that dealer, probably going to keep your truck, order some parts, be driving a loaner. You have the warrantee, but think you'll be happier tuned and def system shut off, my 2 cents. Honestly don't know about the limp mode, but my brother's F250 Powerstroke has had to be towed several times to the dealer for the same problem. He gets hardly any warning, boom, limp mode.

That's what I need to know. I hope you're right, but I can't chance it. I'll post it in the forum to see if I get any solid responses.

Thanks for the response , nice to know the software does not make most of the pids go away with Scan Gauge .

I won't need to restart it because I'll be driving the truck straight to the dealer. So, are you sure that the truck won't go into limp mode once I hit the '37 miles' that I have left?

    message says no start ,
I can't give you a guarantee that it won't , I never had it happen to me ,
from threads of people who restarted it they did not get Limp Mode ,
the fact that it is related to the DEF system may put you in Limp ,
the code might disappear also on your way there , again I can't guarantee you anything .
    Sorry .

Im surprised your not in limp mode already. But very likely you well go into limp when it counts down to zero. Luckily these trucks still drive decent in limp mode just let off to make it shift and ride with the semi's.

I appreciate your feedback and honesty. I think we will chance it. If we go into limp mode, which I anticipate happening, then we'll call for a free tow.
