Hmm, looks nice but as I understand it, only the frame is stainless, the rest is zinc plated (not galvanized) and then powder coated. How long that lasts on gravel roads, no guestimate. Once the paint is chipped, the rust starts and it's not covered under the "conditional" warranty. Have you checked Cloud Rider stainless inserts.

Never heard of them but I'll check them out. Thanks. I was just going to find Tradesmen or Laramie inserts but I'm having trouble locating actual inserts and not just the whole front grille. Most of ones I've found so far are overlays over the existing inserts which is useless.

Go with the Laramie Longhorn inserts over the Laramie if increased airflow is important to you. Found mine on amazon for $200, then sold my Laramie inserts for near that.

Thanks for the link... the chrome wire mesh inserts I was about to order are out of stock right now. I'll save these just in case. Now plans to tow right away, so no huge hurry.

Well, based on this thread and others, I ordered a set of OEM Longhorn grille inserts for my Laramie, and had my custom shop pop them in. So the "cheese grater" has been replaced by the "diamond wire fence!"

I think it's a better look, and I already see a few degrees cooler on running 70 MPH on the local expressway.

This will be a lighter towing season than most, but I will be watching those digital gauges closely.

I also like the Longhorn inserts over the Laramie inserts, and it makes my Laramie just a little more unique lol.

I looked into the Cloud Rider stainless inserts, however, unless I'm reading them wrong they are technically grille overlays which means they go over the existing inserts.

    Back to the drawing board.

I have installed a set of gently used grille inserts into my 2014 Ram Big Horn

    Ram original look

    Ram with new inserts

    Still frame close up.

The little big pull down to the in-laws in Ohio occurs in less than 2 weeks. We shall see if the temperatures run a bit lower than the last 2 summers.
