    Tail Light Assembly

I can only guess, but after taking the drivers side tall tail light assembly off my 16 ED that you have to replace the whole assembly if the tail light burns out. Currently I am getting an occasional message on the dash message center that I have a brake light out. Sometimes it says the turn signal is out and if I wait a bit and try the turn signal then it works. Gremlins at work

The LED taillights have to be replaced as an assembly.
You might want to check your third brake light. It will throw up a taillight out error.

    Education.

An LED out means a whole new assembly???

Good reason to not pay extra and have to pay more later if a problem. Sometimes technology is expensive.

Sounds like a loose connector to me if it's intermittent. A bad tail light would throw errors all the time.

When it is the 3rd brake light that gives problems , the dash display gives you the right side rear warning ,
there is no warning designed for the 3rd brake light , they have fusioned the 2 warnings together , you have to define which of the 2 it is .

My daughter has a late model Suburban, same thing, the whole assembly is replaced at the dealer for $600.00 for just the parts. There is a place in TN that
fixes LED's, ship the assembly to him and he repairs the whole LED bunch.

Is this a common problem with our trucks Kazi?
I have the identical message/warning for months now, dealer says water got into the 3rd brake-light.

    LIARS!

Dry as a bone in there and they won't cover it under my 7 year warranty.

My 2010, 2014 and 2016 all had this issue. Dealer has a guy come in and install a thicker gasket. So far my 2018 has been good.

I did not keep any links on this in my file , sorry .

images I have collected on the subject .
some added caulking to seal water out , but that makes removal almost impossible for future bulb replacement .
others added some "home door padding foam " to seal water out .
