Tow capacity for 2016 Big Horn

So I am close to buying a travel trailer with a UVW of 6400 pounds. I dont expect to be carrying much liquid of any sort so I am thinking I i can be under 7500 pounds with my 3:55 rear end. I have found higher numbers, but my manual shows a max of 7750 lbs which is a narrower gap than I would like, but this darn trailer is everything I have been looking for. I will have load levelers on the hitch. Anyone have any towing experience they can share with me please?

That sounds about right. Biggest hurt for the Big Horn is the Grill. I changed mine out to a better flowing grill.

Lots of posts on this subject. Lots of heavier trailers too.

You will be ok. A WDH with built in sway control is advised for best weight distribution ie stability control & braking plus sway control. Half ton suspensions are soft. Best to set it up using scale results replacing unloaded steer weight and keeping tongue weight in the 10 to 15 range. I aim toward 12.0 percent. An SLT or other better flowing grill as mentioned is helpful as is a tune with software to use your turbo as a brake as is air bags if you don’t have air ride for better suspension control & dampening.

Set up like that I’ve had great luck towing TTs commercially with this truck for half a million miles.
Airstream, TT, Boat, transporter. Factory receiver 1,290/12k (w WDH) factory brake controller tow mirrors & hitch camera. No sway WDH, Andersen Rapid adjust hitch, Turnover ball GN hitch w 5er adapter, Axle to frame air bags, GDE tune w turbo brake, SLT Grill, 275/55/20 XL load tires, Max ED tow rating 9,200, Combined axle rating 7,800, Max RAM 1500 CVWR 15,950, truck with me & 3 hitchs axle weights steer 3,340 drive 2,560

My toy hauler is 6600 lbs dry, and usually 7500-8k when pulling down the road. I upgraded my Curt WDH to an Andersen hitch and couldn't be happier with weight distribution, sway control. and ease of use. I've towed up to about 9k without issue.

I don't generally haul anything in the tanks, fill up with fresh water when I arrive at my destination.
