The first iteration of the EcoDiesel was for GM and Cadillac, the second was the beefed up 3.0 for the Ram and the 3rd is this new more beefed up engine just released.

What's interesting is that you can still get a gen 2 Ecodiesel in the 2019 Classic!

"The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is available in all models and configurations, including a first-time offering in the Ram Rebel. The 2020 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2019. Pricing and fuel economy ratings will be announced closer to the truck’s on-sale date. The 2019 Ram 1500 Classic is also offered with the optional second-generation 3.0-liter EcoDiesel."

Yes, sir. Here's a good explanation for the SAE-J2807 test: http://www.trucktrend.com/how-to/tow...s-the-standard

Right now my 2015 pulls my Grey Wolf 27RR loaded to the gills with machines and gear (roughly 9,500lbs) pretty well with GDE & Timber Grove bags, however i still run into a tail wagging the dog scenario when it gets a little windy or a tractor trailer passes me while i'm creeping along at 60mph.

Right now I mostly do short trips, from NJ to Central PA, or our long trip is NJ to WV, my wife and i want to do a cross country trip out to the Rockies and national parks out that way with the ATV's but I just don't think my Current ED would be able to do the job comfortably, maybe the new ED with upgraded axles and chassis might do better, but i think the correct answer is to keep my eyes on the 2500.
Get a 2500 Cummins and don't look back. I live in the mountain west. I love the Ecodiesel, but it's not enough truck to be towing 9,000+ pounds. The high crosswinds out west can flip over semi-trailer trucks. I've towed with a 2500 Cummins and a 1500 Ecodiesel. NIGHT AND DAY DIFFERENCE. We are keeping the Ecodiesel for home and ranch lifestyle, but we are going back to a Cummins for our heavy towing highway needs.

Well I must say the Ram looks the best of the new 1/2 ton diesel options. GM dropped the ball with an all aluminum diesel and Ford with the rubber timing belt on a 1999 Peugeot design. GM with a clean slate could have done OHV and cast block but noooooo, we need fancy and high tech I guess.

Anyways a crew and SLT trim looks pretty great to me once they start the price discounts a few years from now. Now if FCA could stop saving pennies and back these nice products we would be all set.

2005 jeep GC with 3.0L diesel. No dad, no dpf, no egr. Looked at one for my daughter had 155k miles on it, but used car lot wouldn't budge from $10k.

That's a Mercedes diesel. I had looked at a 2008.5 back when used. But had heard the dealer replaced a motor for 30k dollars. I'm sure the thing would have been fine pre emissions and all.
