    Another oil capacity question.

I've had my oil changed at the local dealer twice within a month. (Long story.)
The weird thing is, they billed for 8.5 quarts both times.
I checked to see that the dipstick showed full.
Could this just be a billing decision? I'm sure that a 2014 takes 10.5 quarts.
Any guesses as to why they only list 8.5 on the bill?

Yes the eco diesel in the Ram takes 10.5
The Grand Cherokee Eco diesel takes 8.5.
If your dipstick shows full they charged you for the Grand Cherokee oil change. Your gain there loss.

    Thanks,
That was what I was thinking.
The oil level was full, so I could not have gotten only 8.5 quarts.

Actually think the filter is 0.5qts capacity however our 1500 pan has more capacity b/c the truck sit higher then the GC.

I highly doubtful a Industrial version sharpie mark will stay on the oil filter pleat with oil flowing through for 10K miles.
Marking the oil filter works with spin on oil filters, and air filters.

I only trust myself or a couple shops that let me come in to the shop when they change. I'm anal to let it drain long enough and let the new 10.5 qts have plenty of time to run down to the pan. Good time to drain out a bit of fuel from the fuel filter into a mayo jar to check for water/etc and check air filter. Before I had the DEF deleted, we would clean the DEF injector with warm water and a paint brush. Whenever I change fuel filter or even drain out a bit, prime it for 6 key cycles. Sorry, I don't trust any dealer to do this, unless they let me go in the shop and watch. My other shops are happy to have me show them how to service an Ecodiesel, actually thanked me. I'm happy to pay 1/2 hour labor for an oil change and supply oil and filter. If I wasn't anal before, owning an Ecodiesel ,has made me that way, haha.
