I ran my Ram on a Mustang Chassis Dyno, before and after the GDE Hot Tune. RWHP was just a hair under 240. Guess what, when my 05 Hemi Ram was stock it was advertised at 345 crank hp, but rear wheel hp was only something like 242. I spent a lot of money to get the hemi RWHP to only 318. I think it's pretty impressive that a little 3L Diesel is putting down at the rear wheels what FCA advertised for the crank, with just a mild tune! Comparing mpg between the 2 is a real laugh! Try X 50% for the hemi.

My truck with gde tune did 245 wrhp with water methanol shut off, with water methanol turned on did 260 wrhp. With my ppei tune it does 272 wrhp with water methanol off and 287 wrhp with water methanol on. Very impressive numbers for a somewhat stockish truck. All this talk about extra power overstressing the engine is unfortunately not very true yes egts can get excessive but thats easy to moniter. The bottom end failures have nothing to due with power there from machining errors, assembly errors, and design flaws. Just a fyi my ppei and gde tune get within .5 mpg on average.

You also have an aftermarket oil cooler correct? What affect has it had on making & using some of that power when towing? I believe you tow weight over long steep grades.

Yep im running a custom oil cooler setup and it helps a lot. The photo im attaching was at the top of cabbage hill on I-84 I was towing my enclosed deck over snowmobile trailer while doing 70-72 mph.

I hope that's before the oil cooler install.

Do you know if the PPEI tune over-speeds the turbo to make those power numbers? I've read that's easily done, and will shorten the life of the turbo.

Thats post oil cooler mine is mounted behind the bumper in dead space only air flow it really gets is from the two 7 inch fans. Before it would have been aggressively derated from oil temps about half way up the hill. Yes my ppei tune can overspeed the turbo some the turbo might only make 150k instead of 300k but thats fine with me.

The 2 small fans should be plenty, doesn't really make that space 'dead'. Which cooler did you use?

Still crazy high temp for an external cooler.

I don't think I would own this truck without the GDE tune simply put.

Same cooler you have but I got it from somewhere else nice 26X7X3.5 cooler. Running down the freeway empty it runs 180-200 which I think is perfect, especially since I dont have an inline thermostat.

Must be the install location since you're running 20-30 degrees hotter across the board.
