Hit 30+MPG from my lifted EcoDiesel GDE + SFT Tunes

Hello all, Thought I'd share a video I just did this last weekend where I was able to hit 30+MPG in my lifted ecodiesel. I'm very happy about this. I have the GDE Hot Tune and the SFT TCM Tune (sofakingtuned.com). I have a 6" Fabtech Lift and 37" Nitto Grappler tires! If you want to get tuned, I fully recommend either of these tunes. Both companies offer TCM and ECU tunes. The benefit of SFT is they can tune your engine and your transmission via the OBD port and you don't have to send in or swap your ECU. Huge bonus there.

Before my Transmission tune, I was getting around 19-23mpg pretty consistently. I made the same trip I did in the video and hit 25mpg, which is still pretty awesome considering my lift and 78lb 37" tires. But with the transmission tune, I'm getting about 4-5mpg better on average! Totally worth it to me.

I'm happy with my truck. Probably the best vehicle I've owned. Time will tell!

It's been my experience that you don't get a high average speed like 68mph unless you reset your mpg once at highway speed.

Your average isn't over 2k-3k miles, it resets a lot more often than that. It's more like the most recent 200mi.

Who does the SofaKing programming? What are their qualifications?

It hasn't reset the mpg for several tanks, and I have hand calculations on fuely to back it up. The mileage resets, as does the average speed and mpg at the same time. 310 miles, 30.6 mpg and 68mph is the average. There isn't a way to reset them individually. If you would like to go on a ride along with my when I'm back east you can sit in the truck and watch. You can also do the same thing in your truck and prove to yourself.

Also, neither SFT or GDE, asked me to post anything here. I'm very happy with my current setup and thought I'd share. Chris tuned me from SFT, and I haven't received any tunes from Jimmy. GDE is my engine tune.

I did not come on here to sell anything and I do not feel the need to defend any tuner. I'm just sharing what I have experienced and that I am very happy with what I have.

Question, how are they able to tune the ECU via a flash tool without the customer sending in the ECU? My understanding, based on what GDE has posted, is that an OBD programing was not possible for the ECU at this point. I know they recently posted about this being a possibility in the future. I would love to hear from those in the know. As always, thanks for the thoughts and advice boys.

A couple of tuners now offer it. Vivid, PPEI, etc. GDE has said there’s is basically reading but due to the upcoming AEM flash it might change things with the handheld.
