Congrats on the new truck, Cap! She is a beauty! That Cummins should serve you well. Hope you get those side steps installed asap. Even at 5'10, I had to yank myself into the cab on the 1500 or get a running start before I installed the steps. That 2500 is a tower by comparison.
  2. Threw a rod on a new ED.. Trade for 5.7 or keep it?

    RAM 1500 Diesel General Discussion
I appreciate the advice I've received here. The dealer has had my truck for about four weeks with no ETA on when the engine replacement would be completed. They're one of the largest dealers in CA and only have a single diesel technician, that is apparently always slammed. This past Saturday...

Thanks for the feedback. I'll scout for a leftover 2018 Cummins, but don't think my local dealer had any when I looked. Current truck has the tow package w/ 3.92 rear and did very well during a 6,000ft climb/descent with that toy hauler. Had to use load-levelers but would opt for airbags in the...

Been enjoying my new 2018 Laramie ED quite a bit in the 10 months since purchasing. It's comfortable, looks great, get's amazing mileage and towed a 7300-7400lb toyhauler to the race track with ease. Took her for a 150+ mile drive on the highway this weekend with the Mrs and about a mile from...
  5. Any updates on FCA settlement / I have issues with my EGR

    RAM 1500 Diesel General Discussion
I was reviewing the emissions warranty on the Mopar site for my 2018 and it states that the EGR is part of the 7YR / 70K emissions warranty (may be CA specific). I would hope your truck's emissions warranty falls under the same umbrella. From the PDF on Mopar.com: Parts Covered For 7 Years Or...
  6. My truck is a little peppy after visiting the dealer!

    RAM 1500 Diesel General Discussion
+1 Almost rode my CBR 954RR into the office today, but it was 35F out ;) and the Laramie's heated seats seemed much more appealing. Regarding driving habits, most of the modern fuel-injected vehicles I've owned have an electronic throttle and the ability to learn a driver's pedal habits...
  7. Thinking of going ecodiesel

    RAM 1500 Diesel General Discussion
If you're on the fence about making the switch from a Toyota, I think you will be very happy with a new or slightly used Ram. The build quality IMO is superior to all the newer Toyota vehicles I have driven/ridden, including my wife's Camry. Last October, I traded in my '13 2.0 turbo sports...
  8. Am I right for an Ecodiesel

    RAM 1500 Diesel Purchasing
New owner here, but had some similar concerns about my 15 mile commute (13 of that is hwy). My truck appears up to operating temp about half way into work, and the way home is usually stop and go traffic. I give it a minute or two to warm up and move some oil around (usually fiddling with my...
  9. Now is the time to get a 2018!

New owner here as well. Picked up 2018 CC Laramie w/ towing package two days ago. Had just over $10k in rebates. Tried for a 2019 Hemi originally, but they weren't budging on the price and I prefer oil burners.
