Hi Guys and Gals, I am new to this forum. I ordered a 2017 Ed back in October and have been waiting as patiently as possible. Today I received word that the 2017s are being released and being gone over for issues like dead batteries from sitting for 6 months or more. A little over a week ago I spoke to a District Sales Manager, Northeast Business Center for the FCAGroup and he said they were do to be released within 45 days. He said production of the engines had resumed and all was well. My dealer called me today and said he received the email stating they are going to be shipping out the 2017s that had been ordered right away. I hope this is true, after waiting 7 months and having traded in 2 trucks already for it, I was about ready to give up. My dealer did work with me on the issue of the trades.. What are all your thoughts, could this really be true and in 10 days or so I will have my 2017 1500 ED Laramie?

To me, this is good news. I think the EPA could block their release if there was evidence of emissions type of tampering. I would also think that if FCA could show that there wasn't, the EPA would have a hard time to keep them out of your hands.
So this is good news for me in my 14 Eco D and for you in your new Eco D !

Thanks, the best news I heard was that there should be some compensation for the amount of time we have waited. I really hope so. The district manager work for VW during their troubles and said this is nothing like what happened there. The engines being built again really gave me hope. I was ready to just take the black on black Hell Cat the dealer had in the show room instead, but then remembered I would be sleeping on the couch, forever...

When I test drove a used car at the local dealer I was playing ignorant and asking all sorts of questions about the 2017s. I did not post it here because it would only contribute to speculation, but the salesman said they now know they should be released within the next 45 days. So something must have gone out to them all to tell them that same number of days.

Now, is this just the standard answer that they give when someone calls them to inquire about their order, or, are they really due to be released in 45 days? I hope it is true, and I hope the 2017 ED buyers don't receive a severely neutered engine ECM flash that makes no torque and gets horrible mpg.

I do not believe this is the standard quote. I had called the dealership once every 2 weeks and never had a concrete answer like this one. I was forwarded an email showing they believed it would be sometime in the month of May, and once released the details there of, would come out. The dealer called me today and said he was receiving word today about the release and the truck would be on its way. They have been very secretive even with the dealers! My dealer had given me a 2016 Cummings with 20k ml on it to use until my new truck showed up, after the first 10 weeks of waiting. I think he thought it might be a few weeks, it has now been over 4 months. Believe me, he is doing his best to find out when they get released so he can sell the truck I have of his. It is a good thing I really like my Ram and Jeep I have now, otherwise I would have been in another truck.
That looks promising!
Ruh Roh.... So much for the Debbie Downers posting about the death of the EcoDiesel. LOL.
Perhaps some crow is on the menu?

Looks like what the dealer heard just might be true!! Glad I waited it out. I had been on here reading post and thought the Eco was dead from what everyone said. My dealer continued to say it was coming, it looks like he might have been right!
