Thinking about purchasing a 2018 big horn lone star edition. 28,000 miles. My only hold up is the experience I had with my 2015 Laramie with the ecodiesel. Have the motors gotten any better in the 3yr difference?

the 2018 will have the same engine (2nd gen) as your 15, so prone to the same issues. But many people have gone many miles without issue on that engine, so just because your 15 had problems doesn't mean the 18 will.

as 97hmcs said, the 2020 model year and newer got the redesigned, improved 3rd gen engine. It has a pretty good track record

Hi: cdwoodcox... My 2016 is doing well so far. I can type this as it can't see me do it. It doesn't have quite 140,000 kilometers so not quite 100,000 miles yet. The closer I get to "The big bang" the more concerned I get!!!

Same motor until the 2020 model year. There were a few "tweaks" on parts from your 2015. Still no major engine/emission changes until 2020.

I dumped my 2014 right before the 2020's came out or I would have one of them. Before 2020 models are a "crap shoot"

I have a 2018. my opinon is the older in age they are the more miles you want on them which is contrary to everything we think we know about vehicles..... sure the mileage is bad for wear items like wheel bearings but i'm not sure what could be worse for modern diesel then 28,000 miles in 5yrs unless they did 28,000 miles on the highway, then thats a steal

Yes, Ram made several improvements to the EcoDiesel engine in 2020, including increased horsepower, torque, and fuel efficiency
