Finally got around to installing my HID kit from the retrofit source. It's a direct Plug and Play that gives you everything you need to work with the CANBUS system. Relatively straightforward to install like most hid systems although the addition of the resistors made for an extra step and added Hardware to the harness that made it a little tricky. Also finding space behind the headlights and radiator surround was fun to mount the resistors and ballast and have room for the anti flicker modules. But in the end I got everything tucked away nicely and other than the positive and negative wires going to the battery you can't even tell there's an HID system installed

HIDs with fogs

HIDs with high beams

This shows where I mounted the resistors. The picture doesn't show the ballast but they are mounted on top of the horizontal front Cross Beam underneath where the headlight goes. Everything has to be mounted to metal because it gets hot and in a place where there's relatively some air flow

Here's a link to the kit I bought. I use 35 watt ballast and 5500 k bulbs

I got my HIDs from Amazon.

I paid about $50 for them

They don't need/use resistors.

I have no errors.

No problem so far and great light.

So let me clarify this thread, you simply upgraded your HID bulbs, correct? You already had the projector headlight assemblies, correct?

Yeah I already had the OEM projectors I just dont like how they only come with halogen bulbs so I installed the hid kit. The hids dont come factory on the 18s. Which they should have..

I doubt there is a difference between '17 and '18 when it comes to HIDs

Having resistors seems like going back to stone age....
If yours is a 17 and works without having the resistors good on ya. From what I researched the 15+ trucks required resistors to trick the computer into thinking the stock bulbs were there when it ran its check on startup and 20 mins later. And I went with the kit I did because even though its pricey it came with everything I needed and I j ka the quality of the components in the kit are 2nd to none because I have bought from TRS in the past and used morimoto components. Nothing cheaply made at all. And everything comes with a 5 year warranty

I'm wanting to upgrade my projectors to HID and my fogs to LED. Got a great deal from Danny at Undergroundlighting.com he's a vendor on the dodge ram forum I also participate in. Got 15% off list. each kit was 149.00 with a 2 year warranty.

Which HID kit you go with? Hate the stock projectors also, wanna swap to HID so I can have a bigger variety of smoked headlights to pick from. Wanting to swap out tails also.
