Yesterday I put my 2015 Ed in 4 low. Everything worked as it should, and was pleased with the torque. Upon switching back to 4 high, it said it was in but had no forward or reverse. 2wd same thing. Switched back to 4 low and everything worked fine. Switched back to 4 high and put it in drive, gave a little pedal and it started grinding, put in neutral. When I put it back in drive it worked fine, switched back to neutral and put it in 2wd. Everything works fine, have not tried 4wd again yet as I need my truck on the road at least a few more days before it can go in.. Any ideas as to what it could be?

Those @#&* electric transfer case shifters can be a pain. We had similar problems at work with the GM ones, hit and miss, sometimes just rolling ever so slowly and things would line up.

If it's possible, aside from putting the transmission in neutral, try to have the truck rolling slowly (5mph or less) when you shift into 4X4 Low

It seemed to shift into 4 low just fine, it was getting out of 4 low that was the problem. Maybe try the same coming out of low?

Yes, I meant to type into/out of 4X4 Low. Keeping your foot off the brake can help also, there is both the transfer case and front axle splines that are engaging/disengages that has to happen.

What are doing in my neck of the woods?...lol
Downtown is not bad at all... during the day, you should goto Slow's for lunch (it's across from the Train Station). I'm working in the northern suburbs today.

To support those who advise "rolling" slowly when shifting in and out of 4L .... yes, my ED does the same and it's the only way I can get the truck to shift in and out of 4L without a lot of clunking and grinding. I don't use it often, but I have been in and out of 4L several times successfully by rolling slow.

I use 4 low a lot. Every time I pull the trailer in/out of my garage and I use it when pulling the boat out of some really steep long ramps helps tremendously with not lugging the engine.

Ive never had trouble getting it in 4x4 low. Always make sure you straighten the wheel and let it roll a little forwards/backwards a little to relieve any stress that may be on the components from turning before trying to shift out of 4x4.

You need to exercise these solenoids or they can get stuck. Once a month, cycle each mode. You won't have a problem.

This is true of all electric gear boxes.

Working at 696 and Hoover, customer bought a used machine from a dealer down there. Fixing as much of the issues as I can before it ships to MN. Live in Holly

Tried it this morning, no issues in and out several times. Must have been a fluke. Will keep rolling in mind down the road. Thank you for all the responses.

Bet that is not uncommon. I often try to use both 4 x 4 modes just to get it in and out. Like most things, if not used it can be a problem.

Glad it's working.
