Tickers can be rebuilt, just like engines! Although the outcome is more noticeable with a 6 inch scar.

Don’t forget the bearings in vernal first motor were toast. Were any of the others inspected?
That mileage out of a towing transmission and it was a minor electronic failure at that, that impresses me.

It would be nice to see Vern in the morning sunrise ,
sipping on a coffee with his Ram in the background ;
also in the background :
-- a Airstream in tow , ( because he has been hauling those for most of his 904,000 miles )
--with any of the many U.S.A. recognisable Landmark , (( OR , he's staring at a Ram dealership ))
and some other guy , played by an actor like Sam Elliot , come to ask him about his truck
and Vern drops the 904,000 miles bomb ..

In the transport world, does it cost more money to keep both trucks in commercial operation compared to running just one truck?

Vern gets credit for knowing how to " use a diesel engine '' ,
it is not by luck that he makes it to those numbers ,
-keeping an eye on the temperature of the engine ,
-how to baby it ,
-when to do the needed maintainance,
-when to slow down ,
-etc...

Sitting at ~167k miles and purposefully buying this truck due to its economy of fuel, wanting a truck as I use its abilities often enough and not wanting a second vehicle. This gives me continued hope that I'll make it more than a few more years dong ~22k miles a year.

These are light duty engines. I think 300,000+ miles is impressive for any light duty engine, especially considering the hard use that Vern put them through. Let's review:

Vern's factory engine: 371,000 miles (failure due to leaking EGR cooler that caused a failed head gasket)
Vern's second engine: 423,000 miles (failure due to a cracked head)
Vern's third engine: Still in operation at 106,000 miles

A true inspiration Vern. If Bio's #'s are right you should make it to 1 million easily. WELL DONE SIR...

My question for you is do you have a handful of tips for these trucks? Such as, are you running a by-pass filter?

Mine just went over 10k recently so I like a lot of others look forward to many, many more miles...

No by-pass just the Mopar fuel filter or its twin that includes the built in water separator. I change it every 30k per my original warranty ie third oil change. That particular item is a key because it’s often water that kills the high pressure fuel pump. If when a high pressure fuel pump goes it can pollute the whole fuel system and it’s the 2nd most expensive thing to replace just short of the engine itself. Nobody wants to put $10k in a truck with 350k miles so.

Dieseldragon absolutely no guarantee of it making another 91k. My youngest daughter just had her car stolen and wrecked. When it settles out she said she wants a truck like mine. I told her she doesn’t need an ED and if she does then it needs to be a 2020+.
