Does anyone know what the sensors are for the auto diming headlights and where they are located.

Lately I find that on dark deserted roads my truck fails to go to high beams. In town and on semi lighted roads, all good.

I will be on the highway with the brights on then an on coming vehicle will kick them out. When that passes, they do not come back. Just cruising along in the dark with no brights.

Full disclosure, I put a dashcam in behind the mirror on the driver side. I figured though that the senser is in the middle of the window but now noticed something in the backside of the mirror?

Anyway, removed the dash cam and it seems the same.

The sensor is between the mirror and the windshield. Mine have been horrible from new and I just disabled the feature.
Is it on the back of the mirror assy or part of the rain sensor sandwiched to the window? I am wondering because I did have the window replaced but the replacement is an FCA part.

I sure agree with the horrible statement. They were useless on my 2014 and the 2020 is the same. Reflective road signs on country roads cause them to dim. There seems to be no sensitivity adjustment so I just shut mine off too. Years ago I had a 1972 Coupe Deville and it had auto dimming lights and they worked great. Although I think that road signs nowadays are much more reflective than years ago.
