I just had Walmart replace the original battery with their Everstart platinum AGM before an upcoming road trip. Original battery was encased in a felt blanket. Walmart managed to disappear the blanket which was torn and corroded anyway. But does the ram need a battery blanket? I'm not from North Dakota or the Yukon.
The blanket on the Ram is technically just insulation to reduce heat load to battery inside engine bay. It does not have any 'heating' element in it. I am not an expert on how high temps affect battery life other than hotter is directionally worse.
You can get 1/2 inch sheets of reflectix at Home Depot, easy to cut with a box cutter. Just make sure the aluminum foil cover doesn't short out across the terminals.
I would be leery wrapping the battery with a conductive material. Perhaps some self adhesive fiberglass or felt product used for sound deadening might serve the purpose?
The blanket is more to keep the battery cool last time I changed my battery I tossed the blanket to me its more of a fire hazard then helpful. If your worried about it have walmart buy you a new one since they tossed it. New part is $21.81 plus shipping.
