Looking online at different dealers for a new 2015 crew cab. Is there a way by looking at the window sticker to tell if the truck has the 6'4" bed/ 149" wheelbase? It seems most on the lots that I have seen in person are the 5'7" bed. I have not been able to tell looking online. Hope I am missing something.

6'4" bed CC trucks are not very easy to find on the lot around here. I ordered mine just how I wanted it and was driving it home in about 6 weeks.

I didn't have very good of luck searching for the 6'4" bed online with the search tools available at the time.

Good luck!

A crew cab with 6'4" bed is an extra-long truck. Just wondering if that means it has a two-piece driveshaft with carrier bearing in some kind of bracket?

Historically that arrangement is problematic. Just wondering.

I searched all over the Northeast and ended up ordering. The 6'4" bed cc is not a common truck, especially in Limited trim. Not sure what trim you are getting, but you may have better luck on a different trim.

For me there isn't such a thing as choosing a bed length that you can be happy with... At least for me anyways... Just grumbling here. I live in Orange County a sprawling suburb of Los Angeles so having a crew cab (need the larger cabin space for family) with the shorter bed makes sense for parking in my driveway and parking lots when going shopping etc. Sometimes it doesn't matter if you want to park way out in the back, because the bloody parking lots are still full! (I wish more people stayed at home and ordered off of Amazon! I hate going to the mall, airport, movies, etc. and avoid at all costs, but sometimes I have to!) Anyway, back to the conversation, It's when I go camping, cycling, kids activities or I'm down at Home Depot that I wish I had the longer bed... Just can't win. So I keep telling myself that the short bed meets my needs 90% of the time, and I just struggle the other 10% of the time and therefore made the right choice. Even though I say this to myself, I still ain't happy! LOL! Only thing that would make me happy is if I could by ANOTHER EcoDiesel with the long bed and get rid of my wife's minivan! Gotta work on this one more. LOL!

I agree, I had the same problem. The deciding factor for us was that we wanted to be able to sleep in the back, on camping trips. Many of the places that we go rule out towing a trailer and we don't stay in one place very long. So, by that criteria, we were committed to an 8' bed, which dictated a regular cab. Since there is just the two of us and the dog it works, but there are times when I wish for a CC.

I got lucky when I bought my Lone-Star with a 6'4" bed but dang this truck doesn't fit in a regular parking spot! I have to actually take up two spots so some idiot parking behind me wont ding my rear bumper that hangs over the parking space line. LOL

No myth. They have a history of vibration, galling up, tearing up the bearing and even loosening the universal joint.

Now that may not be true for this particular pickup and arrangement. It's just that historically it has been a problem where there should not be one. The complexity it brings is a good reason to not have to deal with the thing. Get the shorter bed.

I've never heard of any problems with the RAM 1500 two piece DS. Not saying it doesn't happen, but just never heard of it. I have a 70 Chevy C20 with a two piece DS and it has been in service for 45 years and 177,000 miles. Not one problem.
