I've owned my 2016 Ram EcoD for a few years but now I'm having problems with the def system at 145000k I'm wondering if anyone who knows of a shop in the Edmonton Alberta area where I can do a def delete or a full delete and tune. Preferably cheap options because it sounds like it's quite expensive to do. Also would like to know how much this kind of service would cost roughly.
Have you checke the DEF injector, some have a tendency to gunk up, you may be able to run diluted DEF also, I run a high concentration of distilled water in my 17.
Depending on whats wrong it might be less expensive to fix the def system than so a full delete. Either way make sure you do it right and dont go the cheapest route, that usually costs you more money in the long run.
I don't think you can dilute DEF or run distilled water without a tune. 2016 and newer definitely can't, as they have a DEF quality sensor that will set a check engine light. 14 and 15 don't have the quality sensor, but I think it can determine from other methods if the DEF is not up to par.
Depending on which tune you have you may be able to run diluted DEF, distilled water, or delete DEF altogether.
DEF is 32.5% urea. I think there's one member here that uses distilled water to dilute it down to around 22-24% (not exactly sure). Stock tune.
