I’ve had this problem off and on for a year. 12000 dollars later still same issue. The dealer has no clue. At random times it stutters. Some days it’s all the time others it’s nothings. They replaced the fuel pump and high pressure.
fuel filter. Nothing fixes it.
im hoping someone can help here.
if I step on the gas it will go away. Or let off the gas. Any advice is appreciated

The dealer has no clue.
That, is your clue.

While Ram does not have the monopoly on idiots pretending to be mechanics, and is a big part of the "bigger problem" for all makes, some dealers do have great Ecodiesel mechanics.

But finding those dealers that are better equipped to deal with the Ecodiesel may be hard to find, shop around for better mechs. Chime out where you are, someone may point you to better mechs.

Sorry for your issues, I hope you can figure this out. Just being here asking is a good start, lots of wisdom here.

Hi: Ktdea423... Here's a clue. It could be dirty fuel injectors. Simply try a dose or two of Hot Shots www.hotshotsecret.com in the fuel tank. I don't work for them but use the product. The dealers(parts changers) don't recommend it cause they're to busy making money to. It's like a laxative for your truck... and it works!!! Makes the going great.

Welcome to the forum - first post.

Trying to figure out when it stutters. Thought it was only at idle. ..."If I step on the gas it will go away". But then you talked of letting off the gas (throttle). That means you get that missing just riding along at a steady speed.

Help those trying to help you - under what conditions is the engine missing or stuttering?

Like @Captainmal said, we need a better description of the symptoms.

Does it happen when the truck is idling in park, or in drive? If it only happens while you're in drive, does it also happen in reverse and/or neutral?

Or does it happen while cruising down the highway as Cap suggested?

Does it happen right after you start it up when the engine is cold? Or does it happen after the truck has been running a while and it's up to operating temp?

There was a TSB (attached) for the 2014 model year with a description of a "shudder" under certain conditions. It's for 2014 only, but I was able to get my heads replaced on my 2015 under this TSB (replacement occurred in 2019). My argument was that my truck was built in November of 2014 but the TSB wasn't issued until June of 2015, therefore I couldn't possibly have the new head design. When I picked up my truck from the dealer, the service director told me that FCA was expanding the TSB to include 2015 and 2016 model years. Though I never saw an updated TSB, or any paperwork to corroborate that. Just hearsay from the dealer.

I've looked around with no luck, where are you getting the Hotshotsecret? Ordering on line or any particular store? thanks.

Hi: Patroller8D... I get mine at our local "Truck stop". A bottle last a while at 8 oz. every 6 months but that's OK.

I'll check the truck stop in Barrie next time I go, barring that I'll have to amazon it.
2015 Eco Diesel here. I've had shudder for a few years. Dealer didn't fix it at the end of last year just fix the high pressure fuel pump after 2 months and no loner vehicle. They have it again now the tone will went out. It's on week 3 now they should have the part right now. I won't take it back until the shutter issue is fixed but from all my research and watching the truck with the scanner I believe at least need new heads from carbon buildup. Mine shakes all the time now The dealer gave it back to me like that too. But one of the service advisors gave me the printout with all the tech notes that blatantly showed he lied about what was wrong with the truck. It came in with nine codes he stated it had two relating to hpfp then drove truck 4 miles and called for me to pick it up. Check engine light came on several miles later. I came back a few days later reamed the service manager straight to his face what crooks they were and broke down how they lied to me with the documentation they gave to me. He asked how I got that paperwork.

Before I found the FCA recall on the 2014 heads. I had already figured out the several parameters of it. I would have the same code set within 500 ft at the same spot on the highway as I drove the same route every two weeks on cruise control.
