I actually let go to 100%. Stupid of me...anyways I was told that the AlfaOBD is able to force regen ny truck. Has anyone use this app? And how is the process steps on doing it. I don't want to take it to the dealer yet, I want to see if am able to force my truck to regen.

OK I need help. I finally got the OBDLinkMX+ and the AlfaOBD app. I am trying to do a force regen on my truck, some reason I cannot get it to work. I am able to clear the P2463 fault code with the AlfaOBD, I then go to the active diagnostic to Enable the DPF Regeneration the last step is to select the Particulate filter regeneration, press on the break, start the vehicle and hit "start" on the alfaOBD to start the regeneration. The problem I am having is once I start the vehicle following all of the step I get "brake pedal not observed" eve thought am pressing down on the pedal. Can someone help me with this process. I have a 2015 outdoorman ecodiesel I really don't wan to take it to the dealer but if all fail I guess I will not have a choice.

There is no reason why these manufactures can't include a button in the instrument cluster that would allow the owner to do a manual regeneration of the DPF. Some over the road Class 8 trucks have that ability while some don't, if they are going to make these systems mandatory then they need to make it so the owner does not have to go to the dealer to do a regeneration of the DPF.

While I'll agree on that, it doesn't offer much help for the OP. Hopefully someone can help.

Capt Obvious here... There's probably a good reason why the truck won't go into regen, hence the reason it's at 100% full. Could be as simple as a faulty sensor or loose wire. Buck up & take it to the dealer, take the shade tree mechanic hat off.

There are several threads here in the past on how to force a regen. Personally IDK and wish you well. In the end if it is a failed sensor as the above post suggest is possible, please update. Good Luck!

well folks, I took it to the dealer and the result were: they force regen my truck and is all good now. I only paid the diagnostic fee $149.00 and a differential service which it was a recommendation from the mechanic. Total price for all $364.57. Not bad, honestly I thought it was going to be much more. But it does not explain why I couldn't do the force regen with the alfaOBD like some people claim it does. Oh well, the moral of the story do let the truck get to 100%. Thank You all for your comments.

I am sure that it is very frustrating for you.

I would agree with the previous replies - you will need to take it to the dealer and find out exactly what the glitch is that is preventing a forced regen.

For example I had disconnected/melted DEF injector that need to be fixed first before anything else related to the regen would work. The injector is located under the passenger side of the truck just after the DPF and catalytic converter. There are postings on this, if you wish to take a few minutes to crawl under and look.

Mine melted because the studs on the nearby exhaust flange stretched a bit and created a small gap between the flanges. This resulted in a stream of hot exhaust gas that was pointed right at the injector. I had to drill out the studs, putting in new grade 8 through bolts, and the replacing the injector. After that I was able to force a regen. If this ends up being your issue you may need to find a wrecker to get you the wiring harness - FCA only sells the entire harness and not just the segment and plug related to the DEF injector. A bit of solder, some liquid tape and a shrink tube and you are good to go.

Best of luck,

Anyone has an explanation why I keep getting this? Im trying to force regen my truck.
jelizard, i know you are past this now but i figured i would share my experiences in hopes it will help someone else.

I'm guessing possibly the message you were seeing "Condition not met: Brake pedal pressed" is that you were pressing the break pedal when the instructions say not to touch the brake or accelerator pedals.

With a lot less highway driving lately my truck has been doing regens a lot and I too ignored the 90, 100% warnings until it was too late and I got the "Exhaust Filter 100% Full. Service Required. See Dealer." error. I scheduled an appointment with my dealer who couldnt get me in for a week and said they would need it overnight. I decided to take a chance on the AlfaODB, bought a cheap Amazon fire tablet and bluetooth ODB and gave it a try. It was pretty finicky to get started, the sequence of events was pretty specific and I almost gave up but here was the exact sequence required:

a) Start the truck and drive around or let it idle until the coolant temperature > 60 C / 142 F as shown on the dash (or in the AlfaODB)
b) Plug in and pair the bluetooth adapter in AlfaODB, select your vehicle year/model/etc. My truck is a 2017 and AlfaODB report it as a 2015 Bosch EDC17 ECU.
c) With the key/ignition in the on position but truck not started use the AlfaODB Faults screen to read all faults then clear faults.
d) Turn the ignition completely off, wait a moment, then back to ignition on/not started
e) Select "DPF Regeneration Enabling" from the AlfaODB Active Diagnostics screen
f) Start the truck, then -- with no pedals pressed -- immediately select "Particulate filter regeneration" from the AlfaODB Active Diagnostics screen
Note, the only time I pressed the brake pedal at all in any of this is for a split second when starting the engine for step f. If the truck is not up to temp, pedals are pressed, codes are present or the DPF Regeneration Enabling trigger is not set this step will fail.
g) Assuming you got the sequence correct, when the "Particular filter regeneration" starts the truck's idle will raise to around 2500. Go back in the house and come back 20-25 minutes later, the truck will drop back to a normal idle and the dash errors (Service Required, See Dealer, etc) will go away on their own when it finishes.

For me the AlfaODB showed a soot level of around 140% before I started this and 9% after it finished and it took about 25 minutes.

The other advice about the dealer making sure nothing else is failed like a melted injector or that kind of thing is still good advice, but if you know you do a little too much city driving and sometimes the truck misses out on a full regen then this is a cheap way to take care of it yourself.

Thanks for sharing this is valuable information and can help others save a trip to the dealer.

It would GREAT if you could post this on a seperate thread so if others are searching for a solution it's all there plus you deserve the credit for putting together the instructions.

Thanks!

Thank you! I was getting so frustrated not getting this regen to work and was ready to just face the music taking it in to the dealer.
Then I found this post, followed your instructions, and success! Can’t thank you enough and am super pumped feeling like I can manage some of these repairs myself going forward.

I got the regen to start on my truck following the above procedure, but the "see dealer for service" message comes right back up on the screen. There was no def smell coming from the exhaust as I have heard others state so I tapped the break and stopped the regen.

Will the regen complete even with the see dealer message back on?

Why stop the regen? Might as well see if it completes. It's normal not to smell DEF during a regen. The DEF system is not active during the regen.
