FCA 3.0L Diesel emissions recall (CANADA)

So i checked the mopar site for any recalls on my truck.
One of the recalls listed is #V16
Campaign Description

2014-2016 WK DS 3.0L (CANADA ONLY)

Repair Description

For more information please refer to the Owner Recall Notification by selecting the FCA Campaign #

When clicking on the link to get the pdf file with more info, you get nowhere.
So i gave them a call (1-800-465-2001) and spoke to a minion.
He nicely explained that this is not a recall but a proactive thing that FCA is doing.
I asked him how would this affect the ongoing class action in Canada.
He was very adamantly denying that there is any such class action in Canada, and it only existed in the US.
Then i said that you then probably cant tell if this will have any effect in the class action, and he said no, he cant say.

Be mindful of this when you go anywhere near a dealer, FCA might be trying to preemptively thin the pool of potential claimants.

Has anyone performed this Capaigon V16 that reprograms ECM (Engine and transmission) ? please share your findings, and if it has improved anything ...
Last update I have done was for seat belt tensioner timing... however, my fuel consumption went up about 1L/100km since as FCA must have reprogrammed ECM / Transmission logic as I immediately saw higher engine revs before gear changes...

I received a letter today instructing me to take my vehicle to a dealer and have the ECS flash completed. I have sent an email to FCA asking when the $3075 would be paid, and that I would not proceed with the update until I know the funding is confirmed.

I received my letter today. Curious how I am to proceed not that I have already had to pay for a 2018 engine.l after my 2014 blew. The letter states that ‘14-16 model years are in need of the “repair”.

I went in to the dealer last week for an oil leak from the oil pressure sensor, not cover under warranty. He says you have two recalls on your truck, I said already I just did 3 last week, one is an emissions update, I said why would my emissions need an update it was manufactured to a regulation from day one what needs to be updated, reply I don't know, I asked if it had anything to do with the settlement for emissions tampering in the US, he says je does not know, so I asked to give me a write up or detail in regards to it and he said its confidential, so I said don't touch the truck, if its not meeting standards then il drive it as it is, the other was a transmission update too engage park if door opens, I said go ahead on that one , tech tells him he has to do both at the same time, so I waved both. Sounds like their pulling some fishy shit till the shit hits the fan , il wait it out I guess.

Also got this in the mail today ,
so in Canada , our Trucks didn't lose any value , FCA did not lie ,
it IS the stuff that they advertised in 2014/2015/2016 ,so we are not suppose to get a dime .

Hardest to swallow , no extra warranty on any parts for us ....
time to contact TV programs like W5 , they are always looking for new material .

I agree completely Mike. However without an agency like the EPA enforcing for us, we'll get nothing. Got my letter today too.
The most insulting part is where it states in bold type:

WHAT YOU MUST DO:
Contact an authorized FCA Canada dealer to schedule a service appointment.

I must do NOTHING !!!

FU.......FCA !!!

FIAT CHRYSLER Diesel Emissions Class Action

Merchant Law Group LLP has launched Canada-wide class action litigation against the car manufacturing company FIAT CHRYSLER (FCA) seeking compensation on behalf of Canadian vehicle owners regarding certain of FIAT CHRYSLER’s diesel-powered Dodge RAM 1500 pickup trucks and Jeep Grand Cherokees.

This litigation alleges that FIAT CHRYSLER equipped (i) 2014-2016 Dodge RAM 1500 and (ii) Jeep Grand Cherokee containing the 3.0L diesel engine, with defeat software that allows them to disguise emissions test results. It is alleged that under normal driving conditions, these vehicles emit pollutant levels that are far higher than advertised by FIAT CHRYSLER and/or that are allowed by law.

V16 Campaign in Canada

Just got my FCA Canada letter in the mail today for the same update that is happening with the FCA/EPA settlement deal in the US. There is no mention of a settlement cash wise as is happening in the US. If FCA Canada is watching these forums at all, all I can say is they can get STUFFED until we on the Northern side of the 49th get the same settlement as our southern owners. We pay more for our vehicles, get less warranty and now they want us to do their bidding on this update. Not happening on mine until we get treated equally. It's time we start a big RAM revolt up in the Great White North. Currently there is supposed to be a class action law suit up here and I hope the Lawyers up here can take them to the cleaners. Even VW owners up here got treated better. I have been a long time owner of FCA vehicles but if they do not treat us fairly I will no longer buy anything from them for as long as I live. Hopefully we can get something going up here.

Canadian EC Sys. Campaign V16?

Hi: All... Got my notice today. I don't want to have it done as my 2016 Laramie Longhorn is running fine @ 74,000 kms. Getting great hwy. mileage too!!! What do I do?
Dieseldragon North shore of Lake Erie.
Wife got her letter today for our truck. We are wondering if we just don't do it and wait to see what happens with the lawsuit in Canada. Looks to me like FCA is trying to save money by not paying us Canadians anything for their wrong doing.

Hoping this works, as I just tweeted out the picture of the recall as well. Who knows maybe the more media that are involved the quicker it will be resolved.

I personally would refrain from having the 'service campaign' tune applied, especially if you are not having any difficulties with your truck. Fulfilling the update could be construed legally as accepting of the situation, potentially leaving you out to dry in the event a settlement does come through.
