Don't you guys have insurance on your trucks? My truck and my wife's brand new Jeep Grand L sit in the driveway every day, They steal it and Allstate buys us a brand new one, easy peasy.

Back in the day when I was a Ford guy 🤮I would splice into the fuel pump reset switch and add a hidden kill switch. I usually hid them in the glove box. Now I'll just call the insurance company and let them deal with it.
For low value, easily replaceable vehicles absolutely. I daily drive a sh!tbox Toyota matrix and could care less if it gets stolen. I've spent a lot of time and effort to get my EcoD how I like it. Even if it was easily replaceable it would take me months to get it where I want it to be. We also still have big shortages on vehicles. Slowly starting to improve but I doubt we will ever see full dealer lots again, purposely. Dealers have found selling less vehicles with higher profit margins (paying MSRP if lucky and zero deals) give fatter commissions.

Sometime the vehicle is recovered after being treated like it was "stolen:. The insurance won't buy you a new one. You get a repaired vehicle and God only knows how it was driven.

Is Florida a better RED state than the other RED states they're all moving from?
Made a mistake. Should have said they are moving here from "BLUE" states. Florida has super nice weather to attract lots of old people and a huge number of workers. Lower taxes or no income tax. medical facilities, huge recreational opportunities beyond most anywhere and more. Negatives are the massive population growth and attendant problems from that. Oh well.

Of no importance. The current $5 a gallon diesel here IS.

Most modern vehicles are stolen for parts and not recovered. Punks are not going around with readers to pick up your vehicles RFID signal to take your vehicle out for a joy ride. If your truck gets stolen your not getting it back even if it is recovered. Chop shop operators are not going to "drive it like you stole it", they do not want to draw attention to themselves.

Back in the day it took a car thief less then 60 seconds to have your car. I would laugh my ass off when I would see a club on the steering wheel. Twelve seconds (top), a hack saw and that club is in the back seat. When I was running wrecker in the mid seventies and eighties I could have a locked door opened in under fifteen seconds even when the manufactures started to put shields over the lock rods.

As for a replacement Eco, they stopped taking orders on them December 31, 2022. So there won't be many on the dealers lots. So looks like if you want a diesel half ton GM/Chevrolet is your only option. Ford stopped their 3.0 diesel last year? and now Ram is out of the game for what a POS electric option? Smart move......NOT!

Take the bad with the good. Higher fuel prices than the national average and swamp loving reptiles in your backyard is your tradeoff for Lower taxes, mostly awesome weather and all that other stuff. You can't have everything. No matter how entitled one feels they are.
