Might be true but there have been some failures on other years prior to their first oil change.I don't think it's been out long enough yet. Mine was MFR 11/15/17. Seen another person on here who's was built in December. They only got the green light to sell them in late July last year.
And that sir is the underlying intent of this thread. I hope to see the tides change in '17. I haven't heard of many reports if any, keeping in mind these are fairly new, but I hope to see this trend continue.Boy there is a lot of doom and gloom people on this site. 17's been out what 4 months. I have had ED since 14 on my 2nd one now and have had zero issues with them. Also have talked to many others and no one has had any issues and all love the ED's. These people really think that GM and Ford have no problems, I would suggest they go buy one from them and enjoy life not complaining.

On the flip side there are still people in denial. The proof is in the pudding as far as the Ecodiesel goes. Show me another current production engine with anywhere near this failure rate. http://www.ram1500diesel.com/forum/...sed-fca-emails-disclose-bearing-failures.htmlBoy there is a lot of doom and gloom people on this site. 17's been out what 4 months. Same here...bought my '17 on 1-20 of this year. 23 miles on the ODO, now 1500. I'll admit that had I read deep into the ED engine, there's a strong chance I would have passed on the deal and kept my '14.I am hoping that the 2017s are a great one. I was kinda heartbroken after hearing about engine trouble after, i got my 2017 (12/17 build date)
Of the 1500 miles I have on my '17, 1200 of that was a trip my wife and I took down to bourbon country down in KY. The ED performed flawlessly, it didn't give me a single issue.I bought my '17 Ram Ecodiesel on February 2nd (Groundhog day). It has an 11/17 build date. 460 miles so far and no issues. I just installed a CFT catch can and pondering the GDE tune as we speak. We are taking the truck on a 500 mile trip this long weekend, and hope there are no issues. I will report back if anything crops up.
I don't care how you slice it, that's a good trip.Of the 1500 miles I have on my '17, 1200 of that was a trip my wife and I took down to bourbon country down in KY. The ED performed flawlessly, it didn't give me a single issue.
We had a great time...and like I said, the truck was a great trip vehicle. I'm especially impressed with the way the ED handles climbs, which there are a ton of down there. The 5.7L is a strong engine, but will shift hard and run high to get up rolling hills. The ED was a boss, didn't break a sweat pulling the truck uphill at 50-60 mph and did it without downshifting. It was impressive. With all of the driving we did down there, it still managed over 22mph. I was very pleased.I don't care how you slice it, that's a good trip.![]()
