Took the 3D out for a spin. Got the load level hitch set up. Took the rig over the same stretch of road, at the same time, same weather, same load, same wind, same driver, same, same, same.

THE best I could get in the Avalanche was between 24 and 31 L/100km (12MPG and 9MPG). Bouncing between 5th and 4th to hold the 110KPH (65MPH). It didn't want to tow the trailer and almost seemed PO'ed that it was hooked up.

The 3D would only supply 1 number 12L/100km (24MPG) and didn't seem to care that the trailer was there. Never shifted. It actual seemed to enjoy the work. And I forgot to test Tow Mode. Didn't need too.

Absolute proof that at a minimum I am saving 10L/100KM and easily over 19L/100KM (28MPG and 14MPG) So I am at least double my mileage with everything being equal. If this extrapolates out a $1000 trip will be $500. If I had the 3D last year the additional engine cost would have already been paid for and I'd have a free tank of diesel (almost said gas).
I will miss the V8 roar (MagnFlow pipes) but wow this 3D is so easy to tow with! And that my friends is exactly where I wanted to be.
Sorry the pictures are sideways. Stupid smart phone. IMG-20140614-00023.jpg IMG-20140614-00024.jpg IMG-20140623-00039.jpg IMG-20131231-00003.jpg
Next test will be loaded with 2 full size bikes.

Neck won't tilt.

One question...What's that white stuff covering the lawn?

I filled up yesterday and got a lousy 22.5mpg, worst average to date. Then I remembered that my Hemi would have gotten 14-15 mpg. Damn I love this truck.

Good post. The EcoD is a great truck.

Movie foam to make it look like winter. AKA White sand to a Canadian. Took this shot in February just before loading to head down to Alabama. Only pic I had of the trailer alone.
