I was looking at CJ's green tag and noticed the engine parts number below on the white tag.... Here's my 2014 engines coded tags along with sparker's 2017 . It would have been helpful if one of our members who knew where to look and identify the engine would have chimed in ...But they didn't ? View attachment 53345 View attachment 53353

Here's the complete engine part numbers list ,I put arrows by the MY ,all the other numbers are long blocks with different numbers , because of being superseded . IMG_1593.JPG

Could someone with a 2016 take a look at the front of their engine to verify which engine number they have ?

Haul N Grass It is my understanding that the Green Tag is a pull from stock date The 139th day of 2017 in my case.
The second line down on the first white tage after the TEC is the day IE: mine is 189th day and the next number is the year IE: mine 2016

CJ Thanks for your information.... Even though your engine was built in 2016 ,this number 05158019 AK is the engine parts number installed in a 2017 EcoDiesel.

Apparently there's 2 different long block engine numbers one Superseded another, Maybe because of head design? Or another reason?

These are the complete engine parts numbers
05158019 AD was my 2014 engines part number
05158019 AE
05158019 AF
05158019 AG Molson's 2016 engine parts number
05158019 AK This is the newest engine parts number installed in the 2017 EcoDiesel , Curious if any 2016's have this number ...
Maybe the AE/AF are JGC engines?

When a part is redesigned the numbers change or the last letter ..

Looking at the different engine numbers do you think FCA was trying to solve the spun bearing issues ?

I was told the following from a reliable source:

"From what we know the new engine coming in the new Ram and Wrangler would be the earliest you see changes coming to the bottom end of the engine, if they can even identify a fix.

The current Ram (DS) and Grand Cherokee keep what they have for now."

So we might not see and internal revisions until MY 2019. There could be minor changes that result in a new part number.

Kind of a shame when the early EcoDiesel started spinning bearings we didn't start looking at engine PN's . Maybe relevant maybe not ? But it at least gives a starting point to track engines and numbers. With the difference in lettering Maybe FCA was playing with a variety of different tunes ? Or changes to any of the emissions equipment or oil pumps or slightly different crankshafts ,oil pressure by pass ,etc .?

Eventually this whole cat will be out of the bag , it ALWAYS comes out ,usually through lawsuits, sometimes the manufacturer will make good on future repairs.. I'm not at all a fan of lawsuits, But I'm less a fan of customers replacing engines with their own money . How ever long a Hemi or Pena star last in mileage the Eco Diesel engines should be equal at a minimum...IMOP

On my new motor installed in september 2016, they just added a sticker over the old one
maybe rev AK was just a minor thing ie: like the new oil spec ?
