I ordered a tune and got it all ready to install. I have the exhaust being done ( well scheduled to be done ) do I have to do the EGR delete ? Or can I run it without?
if you are interested , step by step to remove the mystery ...

Straight from a well known tuner: Leaving the EGR in place with a stage 2 (delete) tune causes reduced throttle response, reduced potential for improved fuel economy, potential for coolant leaks, and potential for p0299 underboost trouble code with limp mode.

When mine fell of I took it all apart to see what's inside and then threw the guts in the scrap metal bin. I still have it in the scrap bin. It feels good to see the egr cooler ripped apart in pieces everytime I go past the bin. 😄
Mine wasn't leaking, could have sold it for few bucks. But I can't sell cancer to someone.

To clarify more. I was wanting to see if I could run it a few weeks before with the exhaust and tune in. Before I delete the EGR. Only based on that I'm 4 weeks out from my mechanic I actually trust having a day for he and I to do the job. I'm at best a beginner mechanic.

Just unplug the electrical connectors and it well be fine, long term its best to remove fully but 4 weeks wont hurt anything.

True, block off plates are only solving part of the problem. The EGR coolers are notorious for leaking and the way I see it, just another part to fail at some point.

Mine is still on just disconnected can i just get the 2 plate block off kit? or remove it completely?
Definitely want to remove it. Even the replacements coolers for the recall have been known to leak coolant eventually. Just another thing that could go wrong.
