Intake Cleaning???

I paid a premium for this truck. They obviously did not do enough research or testing to this system or did and went ahead anyways. You are one of the very lucky ones if yoy do not gave any problems by about 60000 miles or 100000 km. My son bought the gas version at the same time. My $5000 premium plus $5000 parts and labour is just completely ducked. He may have put a couple extra $ in gas. They are junk. I expected better. And yes i have owned diesels before. If you have to cheat it then it is junk.

They knew exactly what they were doing and the consequences of this much EGR. They knew that all major issues would show up AFTER the warranty period. What was that part with the hole burned in it? I wish I could get my intake replaced. I'd pay them to clean the valve stems too while they're in there. Those get real nasty too and massively rob you of performance. If I had a manifold replaced, I'd have to get a tune to prevent this kind of soot buildup.

Does the EGR come from before or after the DPF? Seems like there'd be a lot less soot of it was after. The whole goal of EGR is to reduce combustion temps, that would be achieved even better if the source was behind the DPF.

The tail pipe should remain clean indefinitely. If it ever gets sooty, you know your DPF is cracked. My mk6 TDI Jetta's tailpipe used to be shiny and clean until I moved to an apartment in S Florida, which felt the need to put no less than 8 speed bumps between the entrance and my parking space. After 2 months of that dumb sh!t, the dpf cracked and tailpipe went black. They still bought it back like that.
