So there is coolant in th oil but not oil in the coolant? Whats your coolant reservoir look like?

Then its not the oil cooler that failed possibly an egr cooler issue. Oil cooler failure well push oil into the coolant more than coolant into the oil and the coolant reservoir well look horrible.

Can you get cross contamination of oil and coolant in the egr cooler?

Not directly but some coolant could possibly get past the rings
