Took my 2016 ECO RAM with 48000 miles on it in to dealer since I had an error code, exhaust filter 100% full.
I drove at 70 mph for 30 miles, didn't reset.
Dealer now says "oil viscosity too low, will not allow regen. "must change oil
and do manual regen." Oil and filter chgd 4000 miles ago! I used Rotella as required by FCA.
Dealer wants $300 to do the oil and regen! Refused to do under warranty.
Anyone else have an issue like this? Any ideas?
Thanks!

I have been bit by that on my personal 2015 - ask the technician to please verify the CPA lock is intact, and there are no concerns with water contamination in the Inline Transmission connector that is attached to the frame under the Driver front door, in a vulnerable position!

Dumb question, what is a CPA lock?

97hmcs how can I fix that?
I'm guessing trying to reset it through the EVIC didn't work.
Did you try the gas pedal reset method:
Place the ignition in the “ON/RUN” position.
Push the accelerator pedal slowly 3 times within a 10 second interval.
Turn the ignition off.
When you start the vehicle again, the Oil Life will be reset.

You could also use AlfaOBD to reset the Oil Life reminder and force a regen.
You'll need the AlfaOBD app, an OBDLink MX (or MX+) and an Android phone or tablet.

I realize it's been mentioned here more than once, but just to triple check is the ignition in the run (not started) position and not in the accessory position?

They can't tell viscosity without a lab test. They need to reset the oil life meter and run a manual regen. They're trying to rob you. Typical dealer.

If they stick to it, you might just have to buck up and pay for their oil change since you weren't able to reset the oil life meter.

It’s literally two clicks of the mouse or presses on the touchscreen to reset the oil life monitor for them.

They want to change it to cover their butts, because they don’t know the service history.

This way, if something happens, you can’t drag them into it. Welcome to the lawyer heavy sue me society we live in....

Grab yourself an oil change kit, and carry it in and allow them to change it! It shouldn’t run more than a few tenths, and most places discount that to $20-30 or less, because it’s an oil change.

Is the accelerator being pushed all the way to the floor? Is the door (and hood) closed when trying to reset it?
Open/Close the door before trying to start the vehicle also.
