Well, as the title says...I didn't get around to it until now. I have ~25,000 KMS on the 2015 ram (and no problems :D). Sent it in for a tire rotation today at a local shop, as the local dealer is a yahoo. Tires looked fine to me, but I don't have a tool to measure tread depth. My question is, now that I waited 25,000KMS without rotating the tires, should I now wait another 25,000? seems like switching them around at a shorter interval would encourage uneven wear, no?

Since we're talking tires....mine are the stock good year SRA 17" that everyone seems to hate. I don't put my truck in anything worse then a grassy hill or wet/icy boat launch and they seem fine. Quiet, smooth ride...except, when I'm on a grooved pavement highway...then the whole truck seems to shake like the wheels are out of alignment or something. hit a smooth patch, back to smooth, into the grooved pavement and it's really shaky. Anyone else experience this? Any ideas why? My car doesn't do it, nor has any other vehicle I've ever had.

Is there a big difference in the wear on front vs. rear?

Some vehicles require frequent rotation some don't. I have rotated mine every 7k miles when I changed my oil and there is no discernible difference in tire wear at that point from front to back and no odd wear patterns.

Yes, happens all the time. Cheap tires.

Yeap, with different vehicles and different tires, groved pavement just sucks, seems like some groved pavement makes more tire noise than others, those sections usually have more of the "wandering" feeling.

All of the 4x4s that I have worn the front tires first, especial diesels. Unless you haul a load, the front end is heavier than the rear and diesel engines add to the weight over gas engines. As far as wondering is concerned, this is the straightest tracking truck that I have ever driven, regardless of pavement.

I rotated them at 10000 and then at 30000. Front to rear same side. I found that the 20000 mile rotation can be skipped due to alot of hwy miles.

Most the the wear is on the front in corners. I don't utilize that 420 pounds of torque so not too much wear on the rear.

Always wear out the right rear tire faster than the others. Next to wear is the left rear.

Hate to rotate until I see a definite wear issue. Then I do it. Lately my tire wear is so accelerated or I blow and flatted the right rear (twice now) that the whole scenario is a mess. Used to get over 70,000 miles on a set of tires with my Cummins. Now the stock tires wore quickly and the new Firestone ones I put on show lots of wear at about 27,000 miles. If I knew I was going to keep this truck I would go for Michelin tires again.

Hate to rotate but have little choice short of replacing two rears to one set of fronts.

Wow, u live in Ontario and don't have snows? I rotate twice a year, summer tires....snow tires . move front to back when each seasons tire go's back on. I put the year I start rotation on the inside of the rim
Along with what corner it is ( LF, RR, ECT.) So if it's an even year I know every even year it go's back to where it started.
Works for me.
NO WAY I'm ever going thru a winter without REAL snow tires again. All Weather radials are a bunch of marketing billsh#t!
Cheap winter rims and GOOD snow tires r the only way to go...IMO....

Good luck with your truck!

Thanks for the input fellas! I'm real glad to hear I'm not the only one experiencing some shake on the grooved pavement. I've always had cheap tires on all my cars, and never experienced that before...but this is my first truck.

As for the comment of being surprised the Goodyear SRA's aren't toast yet....nope, they look like they have tons of tread left. I'm at 26,000 KMS, not miles though.

I don't see much difference in wear front to back with the naked eye, maybe if I had a little tread measuring tool I would. The fronts looked like they had a bit of wear on the outside, nothing major though

@Ram1 - I wish I had winter tires and will be getting them, I strongly agree they are much better in the snow and have them for my car, but life's expensive right now and can't afford winter tires at the moment.

Something I don't think I heard an answer to was this: If I waited ~26,000KMS to do the first rotate, should I wait ~26,000KMS for the next one so the wear is even?

no, do not wait the 26k km for the next rotation. I wouldn't go more than 12-13k km between rotations. rotations are the #1 way to extend your tread life

I rotated my SR-A tires every 8k miles (every oil change), and got about 45k miles on them before I went to discount tire and got new tires because they were at the wear bars.
My father got 43k out of his before replacing with Michelins and I think he might have rotated them 2x in that time, and he was past the wear bars on his hemi.

When you change the oil, rotate the tires. It's pretty simple.

Got 22,000 kilometres (approx 14,000 miles for my American brothers) on my Goodfornothing Years with no rotates yet and believe it or not - they look pretty good with little wear. Go figure.

This reminds me.........I'm coming up on 16k mi. and have yet to rotate my tires. I've inspected them many times, and have zero wear problems. So it's just not something I think about. Personally, I've had excellent experience with the stock SR-A's. But mine had been a strictly pavement pounder. When it's time, I doubt I go back with them..........But they've served me well so far

I have 24000 miles on my 2016 ecod and it has, been across the states and back twice. Std at tires that came with it. I rotate every oil change and every across country. Still got a lot of tread left.

I've got 42k miles on my Michelin LTX M/S 2s and rotate them every 6k miles. They still have about half their tread left, so I'll keep rotating them in hopes of getting the 70k miles they're rated for.

My rears wear the fastest
i ran 60000 kms with no rotations and replaced both rears at 90$ each off a new truck and now at 69000 kms
snows go on in about 4 to 6 weeks and by then i should be over 80000 kms ( 50000 miles)
