I haven't heard much about the recall or the availability of parts... Just wondering if someone on here knows more than I do, or has any insight. Will the replacement be covered under the AEM update warranty?

Called my dealer yesterday. Said they needed to schedule me for the repair in order to be able to order the parts. Did that and they called me today to tell me the parts were in. I’m out of town most of this next week so scheduled for the following week.

I have mine at a dealer as of this morning. First dealer I called said they didn’t have the parts and would not put me on a list. Second dealer said they had parts after checking with their parts dept. so I immediately scheduled service for 3 recalls (2nd AEM and rotary dial/park issue in addition to EGR cooler). I am still not 100% sure they have the parts as the service contact this morning did not confirm Part availability. I am a second owner and have not received much attention at the dealers. They seem more interested in selling other services to me than doing the recalls.

I got an updated status last Friday on the Mopar site that parts are now available. I contacted my dealer yesterday and they are compiling a waiting list for parts as there are only going to be a couple coolers coming in each week. They told me there were 70 people ahead of me on the list and they probably would not get to me for at least 6 months.

Wow. That is not good. I think I was fortunate that there are not many ecodiesels in my immediate area. Hopefully things will speed up for you. Is there another dealer in the area? I just started calling around for the “quickest” deal. For a recall you shouldn’t have to go to your specific dealer although if you bought the vehicle there they should treat you a bit better.

For those who are getting this done, are these parts for a new design or just the same parts that are still possibly going to break and leak again?

I ask as my local dealership said they were just going to replace my EGR with the same parts and if they leaked again, continue replacements until the "fix" parts are out. I declined as my coolant loss was very slow and just have been checking it every couple of weeks. I just didn't want them to get in-depth as the replacement isn't just a quick in and out procedure, only for them to do it again once the "fix" parts come in.

Well the recall is officially out and “officially” the new parts are out. An intermediate fix would not fulfill a recall. Some folks were going that route but that was by mutual agreement. I am going to ask for the part number when I pick mine up tomorrow, but the understanding is that this is under recall and a fix for that.

I have an appointment scheduled next Tuesday for this. I was told these are the "new" parts and was told it would take two hours to do the replacement. Seems like an awfully short time for me, especially if I'm dropping it off after driving 30 miles to the dealership meaning the EGR should be quite hot. The recall itself does state two hours to do the work, but common sense is telling me that's on a cold engine.

Getting mine done this morning. Service advisor had me talk to parts to make sure that all of the new parts were in before scheduling the work. One truck ahead of me today.

Dropped the truck off and got about two miles down the road. SA called and said that they did not have all the parts in and are hoping they show up tomorrow or Saturday. Due to covid issues, they're only getting three shipments a week. According to him, there are three parts to the upgraded kit and they only had two of them.

when getting VB1 and V08 done, dealer (of course) “found” other ways to liberate my money from me. Two items at least semi -legitimate but for the second time (first after going in Dec. to diagnose leaking cooler) they said I needed brakes. So befor I took it in this time I pulled left front and rear tires and measured pad thickness. About 6 mm (couldn’t get calipers directly on pad but close). The service form shows spec at 3 mm. I told the service advisor I measured 6 mm so one of us is wrong. My suspicion is that the service tech had a quick look, figured they were close enough, and to get the form cell to go red, simply entered 3 mm to make it pop red. I have 63,000 miles on the truck but am not original owner. I suspect they are the original pads. Earlier they wanted to replace an AC evaporator saying it was clogged. Nothing wrong with it. Needless to say it is only going there for warranty work and I need to find an independent diesel mechanic. Sure wish dealers were a little bit honest, but I suspect they prey on a generally mechanically illiterate general public.
