How dumb they can be some times ,
ranks up there with woman who won years ago after suing ,
..after engaging cruise control she walked back to make a coffee in her Winabago, and crashed.
figuring cruise control meant automatic pilot ...she won ....

Knew a guy who had new tires installed and on the way home one fell off his truck. I watch them as they torque each lug. When in doubt I check em at home.

Ive never had my tires rotated anywhere but in my driveway.

I guess if I ever take it somewhere ill ask if they correctly torque the lug nuts after. If they say no we don't have to ill go elsewhere and if they say yes they will be bound to it.

Costco has a manager torque every nut twice before he lets your vehicle leave the bay. They strongly suggest that you return a few days later to re-check.
I guess hand tight will be the new accepted method...

Definitions are everything. Identifying which action was the negligent one is key. No matter how stupid it may sound, and I agree that it sounds stupid, the mechanic did rotate the tires. The lawyer should have sued for failure to properly tighten the nuts AFTER performing a tire rotation.

The english language is awesome !!

I think we're all ignoring the real crime here: $40,000 settlement for the victim, but $70,000 for the lawyers
