Truck still runs and drives like new but after 100,000 miles it did start going into active regenerations every 700 miles so that concerns me that the DPF is not going to last a whole lot longer
These engines seem to use a lot of oil, which very well could be impacting ash accumulation in the DPF. How often are you changing the oil? Are you having to add oil in-between oil changes?

I’ve never had to add any oil between changes. May have to do with running T6 for so long. I didn’t go away from it till 90 or 100k.

Recommendation: Do NOT rely solely on this list. Always double check to make sure the following oils are current in meeting factory specifications.

The new 3rd gen (2020+) EcoDiesel has different specs than the 2nd generation (2014 - 2019) engine. The following oils have been known to meet the new MS-12991 and API SN Certification/Standard/Approval. I put them in order based on what I think are more 'commonly known', not based on preference or performance.

I will update this thread as new approved oils are added and when existing approved oils no longer meet approval. So far, I had to remove Valvoline and Liqui Moly even though both met spec at one point in time.

The following manufacturers have given a verbal/written approval, but they have not and/or will not update the literature to reflect it.

Liqui Moly Leichtlauf High Tech 5W-40
I have been an Amsoil user for 30 years and have used their dual filter remote system on everything I own. But, they don’t make an adapter for the ecodiesel. I had to make an adapter that takes the place of the factory oil filter and oil filter cap. The adapter is made out of 6061 aluminum and takes the place to the original filter and cap. One of the Amsoil filters is a full flow and the other is a bypass filter that filters down to 2 microns. I had around 3000 miles on the oil when I got the system installed. I now have a little over 7000 miles on the oil. At 10k I’ll change the oil and filters and send in a sample to be analyzed. I can tell that the oil isn’t black anymore.

If anyone is interested, I can make this adapter for $300 +shipping. I know that sounds like a lot, but the 4 inch by 12 inch round bar of aluminum is $120 plus prongs. My lathe/milling machine is not CNC and there are a lot of different steps and setup to make these 2 parts. If interested my email is [email protected]

I'm surprised they did the same BS with the new trucks that they did with the first '14+ with MS-11106 then decided that CJ4 oil was the 'right' oil to use later on.

MS-11106 is a 5W-30 LS Euro oil.
Invariably, they have a similar HTHS to Rotella (3.5-3.7), and a higher HTFS - so the concept that the change was for film strength as outlined to the government was a lie, predicated on the fact that admitting the issue was a torsional vibration failure would have cost them $$$$$$!
The CJ-4 was used because it has a high KV100, and increases the weight of the crankshaft assembly in practical use due to a heavier Windage cloud - and that alters the frequency at which the failure occurs.

The current spec is an A3/B4 ACEA oil - not necessarily low ash - but as @biodiesel can attest - these oils are significantly more robust than a CJ/CK diesel oil - there’s maybe 2 oils on the whole list that would provide worse wear protection than T6, and the vast majority would exceed everything except Delo… while having an HTHS that would probably give a 6-10% improvement in economy over that specific oil! Several provide superior wear protection to any shelf CJ/CK options, and some specialty oils! Heck, even the Pennzoil option is relatively solid!

Is that the same as the Quaker State Ultimate Durability EURO 5W-40? looks like a different product?
This is the one you want. It will have the MS-12991 spec on the back.

I'm not sure if it's exactly the same product, but I have not seen any other QS Euro oils besides this one.

The pic above is what's at Walmart for ~$23/5L jug. I've been running it in my EcoD for 4k miles after dumping the initial factory fill around 3400 miles. So far so good.

Hey any updates on this adapter? was also wondering if after installation you had any drop in EOTs. definitely a more thorough filter element that the factory.

Order on line from walmart....$25 per 5 qt container. Leaked in the box so just had enough for the oil change. Lost three qts in shipping....poor UPS truck.
That sucks. I usually go in and buy my oil off the shelf, or I have them pull it and waiting for me. Having bought oil online for my other vehicles has taught me to avoid having liquid shipped if at all possible.
