P249C Code - Excessive Time To Enter Closed Loop Reductant Injection Control

Hi all.

I was driving home last night and my CEL came on and got it scanned by a buddy this morning and according to the pinpoint, if that is the only code showing up (it is), replace the PCM.

Cleared code and it came back on within the first 10 km of driving. I also noticed (probably unrelated) a burnt oil smell.

Should I go ahead and replace the PMC? Any ideas?

The pcm is the least likely cause of that code and would be a complete waste of money. You have def isssues its taking to long for your def system to prime and pressurize.

Your code is mentioned in this thread ,
2015 ecodiesel pulling and cleaning swirl valves or...
..
what is this obcession in replacing the PCM ??
don't shoot the messenger , listen to the warning the messenger is bringing you ...
first roll under the truck , passenger side and look at the exhaust flange bolts , making sure
they are not broken , and an exhaust leak did not melt your DEF injector wiring , it is at the entry of the SCR
could smell like burnt plastic (wires) .

Thank you.

I have checked the exhaust and all bolts are there and the wiring is good.

The truck is going to the dealership in 3 weeks. Meanwhile, will it do it's regen even with the check engine light on? I dont want to screw things more.

Thank you
Def codes wont effect regen
Thank you.

I have never owned a diesel before so it is all new stuff to me. I thought maybe with a def code, the computer will disable the system (like an airbag light will disable the whole restraint system for example)

On these if the def system fails it well self test a couple times then cause a countdown to no start. But since def is unrelated to the dpf that system well stay active and functional.

A quick update.

I had made an appointment to the dealer mid april and by that time, the light had turned off. Dealer didnt want to look at it because the light was off.

About 2 weeks after, light came back on for about a day and went back off and has been since. My driving habits had not changed, only was putting more DEF in the tank (usually keep it half full in the winter)
