As i bought my 2015 ED the previous owner didn't leave any instructions(if he did dealership pitched them) about the tunes, who tuned, or if it has a trans tune. There was no handheld left if that was the way it was tuned or maybe it was bench flashed. My question is as followed. If I bought a handheld hp or whatever is out there, would I or could I be able to pull whatever tune is in the ecm right now and save it? In case something happened to the truck and only option they have is to flash the ecm I can reflash what is there right now?
Just something I've been wondering for awhile.

What makes you think it has an aftermarket tune ??
Well I know it's got to be tuned bc at some point all the emissions fell off and a bumpy road in the country I think lmao. Plus it has a ppei 5 dial tuning knob(I've said before in my tuning questions only thing I can see change is the fuel rail temp on 1
-50deg 2-76Deg 3-88deg 4-104deg 5-122deg on 5 rolls black stuff like a freight train lol) so I know it has to be tuned I just don't know who or with what.

If it were me, I would buy a pre ban GDE ECM to remove all doubt. I know a lot of people don't like SFT but I would also get their Rally trans tune, I absolutely love it.

I would think there would still be issues like VIN numbers matching or differing tune compatibility and would be a gamble, especially if you had to buy the handheld, I agree with FCA "IF" you could find a GDE ECM with off-road since you've already had exhaust component trouble, being in your shoes right now I'd be contacting mrtuning, if possible, I share the same fear as you in regard to a dealer. I've got some antimatter for my truck (AKA HDDS tune) and am terrified of a dealer visit, and If I lost it today i'd have to contact Mr.tuning

there is/was a member here

gtsav2006
that was able to do some cloning work too, maybe you could contact them and see if there is something he could help with like preserving your current tune???

Stage 2 GDE are very difficult to find on a used ecm.

What tells you that switch has anything to do with PPEI?
I'm not 100% sure it's PPEI. I called them and they don't see my truck/vin in there system but I also don't know if they dumped alot of pre epa tuned trucks out of there system or not. All I know is the dial that was there when I bought it is from ppei tuning. And a couple people I've talked to hear say ppei is one of a few that did a tune for our trucks on a dial.

One of the few or quite possibly the only one. I think PPEI used to put stickers on the ECM's they tuned. Wreckless Randy talked about putting one out with a dial but not sure if it ever happened.

I have a multi-map tune from EOC with 5 different power levels, but there's no switch. Slight pressure on the brake and hit Cruise Control + button to switch between power levels.

I suggest getting a stage 2 tune from EOC so you know you have quality tuning on your truck.

Personally, if it were me, I would go with GDE even if it were more expensive. Food for thought at least between these 2 options for the OP to consider.

EOC Engine/Trans tune combo -- $1,118
GDE Engine/Trans tune combo -- $995

I agree that GDE makes exceptional products; however, it will be challenging for the OP to find a GDE tune compatible with his current emissions set-up.

Safest bet for a situation like this is buy a used ecm that has a tune that well allow for full delete. Doesnt need to be a great tune just one you can slap in there and it wont matter if it gets flashed over. Then carry it and an inexpensive 1/4 set so you can swap the ecm out easily if needed.
Yep, I agree.

You can add the cost of an OEM emissions compliant exhaust to the cost of the GDE tuning, as he's already stage 2. GDE would be a major step backward.

The OP already made the mistake of either buying or doing a full delete already. Issues like this is just another reason not to do a full delete or buy a truck old enough without the emissions imo. Gotta pay to play

When ever I get the money stacked I will be getting a tune from EOC I've been in contact with before. This post was not to find a reliable tune. This was only to ask the question of if I buy a pg3+ or hptuner handheld could I download the tune that is already installed into my truck. That is all I know if by some bad situation it does get flashed I'd be calling EOC immediately.

PG3, no. I am not familiar with HPtuner.
