I don't have any experience, but that sounds about right.I just had my cp4 replaced by an independent shop. But Ram is refusing to pay the labor. They claim that it has to fail before covering labor. Anyone have any experience with this?
I actually re-read the email. They are also denying the parts. I thought the parts were supposed to be covered? Not only is it a safety recall that the dealers have no repair for at the moment. California is denying my registration until I have all recalls done. Not sure what to believe anymore.I surely remember others getting a reimbursement without failure. Even think Ram Cares has suggested owners do the change themselves and Ram would cover it.
Could "covering it" mean parts only to them?
Good point. How would they know that it didn't fail? They asked and you were honest with them?
I have heard that warranty repairs are an exception to laws about returning (failed) parts to the vehicle owner. Thus, FCA could demand that they get the "failed" pump and associated components. How would they know that it didn't fail? They asked and you were honest with them?
I guess we can assume you replaced it with a CP3?I just had my cp4 replaced by an independent shop. But Ram is refusing to pay the labor. They claim that it has to fail before covering labor. Anyone have any experience with this?
And you could send them your removed CP4. You really think they are going to be set up to bench test it to make sure it has really failed? No way. He should have checked with FCA in advance to see what criteria would be required for reimbursement. After the fact is obviously not the way to go.I have heard that warranty repairs are an exception to laws about returning (failed) parts to the vehicle owner. Why would they reimburse for something that hasn't failed?
According to the RAM dealership here there isnt a "fix" or solution yet. BUT what they think will happen is when available they will replace all fuel pumps check for ANY metal if any present then replace lines, as well as injectors.
? Is this a Cummins or VM?I have heard that warranty repairs are an exception to laws about returning (failed) parts to the vehicle owner. Thus, FCA could demand that they get the "failed" pump and associated components.

There's your real problem. California DMV.California is denying my registration until I have all recalls done.
If it failed, much of the fuel system would be full of metal shrapnel, AFAIK. I would assume that would not be hard to detect. I agree that pre-approval would have been wise. And you could send them your removed CP4. You really think they are going to be set up to bench test it to make sure it has really failed? No way.
