I actually heard this on a Subaru forum, as many folks use T6 in their high mile Subies, including me. The concern was if the added zinc could damage the cats in gas cars. Anyway, they were right, my latest Blackstone Labs test shows about 150 more ppm zinc compared to previous tests. I'm thinking it's not a bad thing. No worries on my personal info on the report.

Thats one of the things I dislike about shell products they change stuff with zero warning or info. Which I get all oil compaines make small changes sometimes but shell makes big ones randomly.

Guess more zinc wasnt so detrimental to this additive package afterall. Maybe this change was done in part as a result of the supply/ manufacturing issues they have been having..

If it continues as hard to find and more expensive, I might switch to Amzoil. I liked T6 better when it was $19/gallon at Walmart.

Zinc has been the number 1 protection of engine bearings, The EPA made the oil companies try to find alternatives, Zinc has always shown to Be The Best , That I’m aware of ?
It’s no secret about Zinc and Bearings it coats the bearings with a hard surface…This is also why you could buy Zinc supplements for engine oil …

As well it’s No secret about EPA , Limiting Zinc in engine oils , Because of shortening exhaust emissions components…

I got flack in another thread I started here becuase I choose to use a lucas ZDDP additive to T6 in my deleted ecodiesel in hopes to help fight the common bearing failure on these engines.

Ive built a flat tappet engine for another car I own (which ive since upgraded to a roller cam) and know very well the advantages of the ZDDP and the reasons its been virtually removed from modern detergent oils.
