Okay I need some help I’m new to the ecodiesel I got my 2016 with 107000 on November 2 on the 12th engine light came on said service electronic throttle control and it would not go over 2 thousand rpms I was just down the street from the dealer so I took it to them they just called about an hour ago and said we got you ready they had sent it to the dodge dealer to be fixed I was told it was the egr valve then the cooler. So I called dodge to ask them what they done all they said they done was changed the air filter that it was extremely dirty and restricted the air flow and that fixed it does this sound right to anyone?
Time to get familiar with 5 things:
BDE tune $1500 best money ever spent; shuts off EGR and stops the waste gases from pluggin your intake and fouling the MAP but for now you can just:
The EGR diffuser tube, two 10 mm on one side two 8mm on other; throw away $27 rubber band gasket and replace with $1.25 high heat o Ring from auto store
soak in gasoline and ream with a bittle brush untill clean, reinstall
The MAP Sensor carefully disconnect the pigtail and torx 40 bolt, clean with MAP or safe O2 sensor cleaner spray; it will be completely sooted over and clogged; spray the tip but do not touch; spray clean
Put back clean
OBD2 scanner This you will need to clear the Turbo boost pressure error codes that leaves you with no power and top speed of 45-65 mph stuck in obummer mode
The start button this is the most important thing.. you have to fast press the start button in order to get the truck into "ON" mode without it actually running. its the equivalent of the key have turned past ACC.
These trucks wont allow OBD2 to clear codes unless you are in "ON" with no motor running. Right there I saved you some stealership time and cash installing injectors, turbos, filters and the like.
if you dont clean these the problem WILL return.
Also if you arent going to tune out the EGR then you can look forward to this filthy process every 15k possibly.
Make sure you check MAP frequently like every oil change. if it plugs up AND the EGR tube plugs the higher pressure in tube heats it WAY too hot then it melts the foam thing under the engine case cover and it may even catch fire. This WILL warp your intake valves and smoke your motor.
All in all its not a bad truck if you tune it. Most say after BDE there maps are forever more clean.
