Ok so, what do I do with the low turbo boost (p0299)? It all started with "bank 1 sensor 1 cat temp high". No offense but, I've had many different opinions regarding this so tell me your experience please.
P0299 is a pretty generic code. Some people had to clean/replace their MAP sensor. Someone else had an intercooler leak. There are lots of possibilities, but replacing the DPF and SCR isn't a common problem, especially on a truck with under 150,000 miles. Search P0299 on the forum. You will find a lot of possible solutions for your problems.

Well, I guess I have 3 options (4 if I wanna do 1 illegally): 1) Start cleaning everything I can from the MAP to the turbo and attempt a regen to clear the 100% DPF and ETC; 2) let the U.S. dealer do their thing at $3500; 3) take it to Windsor and let their guys do it or; 4) Detroit River...lol

I'm fortunate that I'm two hours away from a high-volume dealer for the EcoDiesel and they have two high quality EcoDiesel techs. They are excellent at what they do. I've had no issues outside of recalls, but I wouldn't hesitate to have either one diagnose and repair anything on the EcoDiesel. I would encourage you to find a good dealer or independent shop that specializes in diesel.

I have a ‘15 with 97k miles. What can i say…….its a truck….. I’ve replaced the rear camera, both front wheel bearings, some bolt on the exhaust manifold (had the dealer do it under warranty), 3 way heat valve, rear driver side brake rotor (caliper seized), clear coat is pealing off the front bumper (just like a piece of shit chevy), rear bumper is rusted (even though it had a rust proofing applied), remote start really works, every single winter i get “immediate air suspension attention required” but i never do anything about it. One year I actually put a space heater behind the rear passenger wheel to melt the snow that was impacted all over the suspension pump.

Other than those few things, it’s been an excellent truck. I do my own maintenance, and this truck is FAR BETTER than my old f150 lariat. More power, excellent mileage, and extremely smooth ride. Now, would i buy another diesel?? Don’t know. I HATE the extra $1 to $1.50 more than gas per gallon sometimes, and i don’t care for the $40 filters !!

My best fuel mileage was 29mpg driving like an old man, worst was 18mpg pulling my enclosed cycle trailer with two 800# cycles in it (total weight around 6000#) average in town is 20-22 ish, highway with the cruise set at 75 usually get anywhere from 24-27 depending on the weather, winter is usually 24.

Good luck, like i said, it’s a truck……

Do not get this truck. I've had a never ending string of issues that I just wouldn't have had with either a gas truck or a different diesel engine. Message me offline if you want the laundry list.
Please post the laundry list here for all to read. Thats what this topic is all about.

I love my 2016. It's had engine replaced twice. But been under warranty. I am tuned stage 1.
Love the low end torque and can still get pretty good acceleration. I have the 8 speed transmission. Not sure if they came with the 6 speed or not. My advice. Tune it GDE or MRtuning. Pull oil sample to test every change. Only mopar fuel and oil filters. Don't baby it. Thus diesel likes to run hot exhaust and a load on it. Generally diesel lives better under a load. Failures after 100k happen but fairly rare. I could not replace my ecodiesel tradesmen with 4x4 for what I got in it. Paid 22k but with a new engine. I only got 55k on the engine now.

UPDATE: Cleaned MAP all the way to the turbo and P0299 went away along with the DPF and Turbo codes. Now dealing with a tone wheel issue.

Hi: IDK etc etc... Up here on the north shore of Lake Erie we have some pretty high cliffs above the lake. Was your truck re programed about the tone wheel issue?
Have you ever given the truck a dose of Hot Shots Extreme Diesel Treatment www.hotshotsecret.com? Its a once every 6M. fuel treat like a dose of laxative. At least it will clean out your injectors.

Yes I've used HotShots and it's being done at the shop now. Wasn't included in W58.

Hi: IDK etc, etc... We cleaned out our EcoD.. Used the map all the way to Florida. S/B I75, N/B I65- I71- I75 then at Florence Ky., got the first MIL light. Out by the time we got home. Then had the oil changed w/ the last of my T6 stock pile and cleaned the DEF injector and the MAP sensor. We'll see how far we go before any more silly messages!!!

I am looking for pros and cons on buying a used Ram with eco diesel, any suggestions?
Hi: Rmoran66... According to the sediment on this form you shouldn't!!! I, OTOH, have never listened to reason and did. If it wasn't such a great truck it'd be a great truck. It sips fuel but the cost of it sucks. The EPA's DEF system must have been designed by Lucifer himself, but I have learned to cope with it. Still stock after 135,000 km. and most folks I give a ride to don't even know it's a diesel. I feel there are a lot of self inflicted wounds with these trucks but they are what they are.

I you get one with a extended warranty, pretty much will pay for itself in the long run. Mine saved me on most problems. i found eco's are more suited for the open road, not bee bopping around town. Plus higher fuel, maintaining them, I got such a great deal couldn't pass it up. That was in 2020 during covid. What u intend to do with it determines what you need. Rams look the same, under the hood, only difference.

That's a beauty of a RAM! With mine, I let the dealer have it for 10 days (waiting on parts). Replaced the tonewheel that had missing chunks of mag strip, reflashed the PCM and changed out a couple O2 sensors. All in all, $1875 so I don't think I got hurt too bad with having to pull the trans to get to the tonewheel. Truck runs like new and a few things that hadn't worked prior to reflash suddenly came to life. I've submitted a request to the Stellantis Engine Group to be included after the fact in W58...🤞
