Updates on cp4

If I remember correctly from the recall mail, ram was supposed to be getting things started for cp4 pump recall repairs in June. Its may and it is right around the corner. So has anyone heard any news coming from your dealer about this?

I would agree except that they have been shuffling the blame for pump failures in North America since 2008. I also have to look at the airbag recall fiasco. Just saw another round of recalls for that!
I have the same thing with the airbags but with our 2013 Chevy Avalanche. I called 2 weeks ago, and they said could come in a week or less. No call yet so figured no new airbag yet.
There is a company mentioned on the Everything Ecodiesel facebook page that says they build a bulletproof cp4.2 for the Ecodiesel. They claim pinning the plunger to prevent rotation is one of the many beneficial mods. I'm no mechanic but I'm pretty sure that's what they claim.
Doesn’t bother me at all that they take longer. As far as I’m concerned I’ve got almost 150,000 trouble free miles on the original not concerned about it and with the recall it’s almost as good as under warranty.

I agree. I'm in no hurry to get the recall completed and don't plan to put myself on the list until the middle of next year. Then the actual scheduled work could be an additional 6+ months once I'm actually on the waitlist.

Yep, that's what I plan to do.

Besides, my truck is under warranty (both a warranty and the power train warranty), while I don't care if it blows up cause it won't be my problem, but rather not have it happen. lol

Interesting... I'm wondering if that is part of Bosch's tactics too?

Other than the recall being done on my truck, I cannot wait until someone gets a hold of one of these "new" recall pumps and does a proper tear down and analysis of what Bosch changed and compare it to the current CP4.2.

Well I will likely be one of the "guinea pigs" for these new pumps, whenever they do come out. My 2015 CP4 just took a crap and threw metal throughout the whole fuel system. Dealer won't fix unless I pay the $10k to fix, even though I'm still covered under the AEM Warranty.

I've sent a message to Ram Cares yesterday and awaiting a reply, guess we'll see ive yet to recieve a reply. I will likely take to a different dealer. I've already asked around for a few different ones in the area from another board member here as he lives nearby. Not sure how much a different dealer nearby will do though as my dealer claims it is the area rep who told him I had to pay the $10k, so it would likely be the same rep.

Meanwhile I have no transportation for work so my boss is not happy, and I travel for work!

That's ridiculous. Since it's under a recall, there should be no question who's going to pay for it. The only question should be is how long will it take to fix.

I feel for you. Hopefully Ram Cares will get something done for you.

They seemed willing to help on my very first post, which I thought was very cool!

Why exactly are they asking you to pay for a warranty repair?
Sorry to the OP for this taking over the thread, did not intend on that! I was going to make a separate post but thought this was a good one to post it on instead!

All of what you have said is exactly what I said to the dealer as well! Should be no question, they confirmed its under warranty there is no question there! But he claims nothing he can do, he has to go by what his "rep" says.

Hoping Ram Cares can help too, I know they helped back with my AEM check when I didn't get the whole settlement i was entitled to. They are great! But still crickets, trying to be patient. But what an early birthday present this is turning out to be. Tomorrow is my birthday, I was hoping to have good news from the dealer not this bad news.

I assume their excuse is that there is no true remedy, i.e. updated pump. Some other dealerships have installed the original pump as a stopgap measure--and that's what should happen!

Interestingly, the HPFP is covered under the AEM warranty, which @15EcoRam1500 has.
Yes but but if half his tank is full of def or water then there are reasons to not warranty it.

True. However, there was no mention of that being a concern.
Are they claiming fuel contamination?
Nope no mention of fuel contamination, I also have been pretty faithful in changing my fuel filter way more often then the 30k as well doing at every oil change 9k to 10k.

My dealership was more than willing to replace the entire fuel system on my truck when it went in for the pump failure in February. I got it back late April only for the “new” CP4.1 recalled pump to fail after 1 hour and 7 miles. So it is again sitting for a new pump and now it will actually get a new fuel system too supposedly.
