LOL since I have the GDE tune and they said the truck won't know the difference if and until cold weather freezing becomes an issue. Not an issue for me. I've tried distilled water at 59 cents a gallon. I've used 10 gallons this summer so far. Its more the rebel in me than the $20 I saved. I don't like the government who no longer represents us to make me do anything. That said I still paid my dxmn taxes last year. But it still smokes me that Obama Kerry Clinton sent it to the Islamic terrorist regime known as Iran that swears to kill as a matter of their religious beliefs America & all Jews & Christians so they can further develop & build nuclear bombs & the ICBMs to reach our country with. Guess they & the rest of the Global elitists insiders will conveniently be some where else when that happens. BTW being patriotic and all don't forget to vote November 8th.

I really think people are over analyzing the whole DEF thing, I have been using Peak BLU DEF now for 30,000 miles with not one issue. I pick it up at farm and fleet when I run the tank low, 2.5 gallons is like 10 bucks on sale, never have issues. And yes I know its cheaper at the truck stops, but if you bought a $40K + truck, why the hell are people flipping out about spending 10-20 bucks (depending on how much you tow) every 10,000 miles?

To add further insight to this thread, last night my father in-law informed me that it's actually pig pee.
The urea used in making DEF is synthetically derived. It is also a more refined and purer than agricultural urea used as fertilizer.

It would cost way too much to recover and extract natural occurring urea from urine. Urea content in urine is between 2%-4%.

@ram2 I run 5 semi trucks for fedex ground and my guys get DEF for .91 or .93 cents a gallon. My buddy it hiking my up with the BMW def fluid. I think the protest is the cost. In SoCal it's at least $17 for 2.5 gallons for me, but my guys are under a dollar at the same TA... It's insane!

I guess it is a matter of opinion, I don't go to truck stops. I go to a farm supply store at least once a week. I figure I can go 9'000 miles on a full tank of def because I pull a horse trailer about every other weekend. I just looked online at my local farm and fleet I can get 2.5 gallons for $8.49. So a full tank would cost me about $25.47 that comes out to $.003 per mile over 9,000 miles. I will take that over making a special trip to the truck stop just to save a few bucks on def. Oh yeh and when I go in to get serviced my dealer always tops off the tank, and I haven't seen a charge for it yet.
