Front driver side wheel is making noise, sounds like dry bearing. Not able to inspect or work on it myself due to injury. I have always done this type of work myself.
Got a price to replace it to the tune of 517$ from local dealer. I’ve always done both sides if on goes bad.
Would y’all go ahead and replace the passenger side (not making noise), or let it ride till it starts going bad?

Just curious as to what other folks do.

Don’t know if any of the bearings have ever been replaced, it has 155k miles on it.

Hi: Black14... DEPENDS!!! I had the front right pass. side one go bad. Mechanic had the truck on the hoist in 4X4 and I could see the wheel hesitate to turn, so wasn't surprised to hear it was the one. Only changed that one too. $575. Canadian inc. txs.

Got a good local diesel truck shop lined up to do it with SKF hubs. For about 800$, both sides.

Would an alignment be warranted after changing both hubs? Never really thought about it before.

It would be good to have your alignment checked.

Am I right that people do not lube their front wheel bearings through the ABS port much any more?

Maybe 8 years ago or a bit more that was all the rage and talk. It works yet oh so many oppose that. On this forum from years ago there are drawings of there open cavity between the ABS port and the wheel bearings. That information should be shared more so people do not have premature wheel bearing failure.

I still have mixed views with filling through the ABS port. I know one guy who a hub failure even though he greased through the ABS port. I think some grease may leak through the seal, but I'm not convinced that much makes it past the seal.

Past the seal? There is no seal between the ABS port and the bearings. You can feel the bearing assembly taking the grease when you spin it while filling.

I'm a big proponent of greasing the front wheel bearings. Every 60k for me.

I would replace both.

I recently had a rear air bag leaking. I replaced both as I figured as soon as I replaced one, the other would fail.
